After the drubbing/trashing of Pakistan in the first ODI, I thought I should not open the dhaga or thread :rolleyes: per why not, My expectation are the same, and infact much more after that terrible loss. I think Pakistan will make an outstanding comeback.
Interesting U-turn by PCB by selecting Azhar Mehmood after his fantastic domestic performance, lets hope Woolmer value him, the way he regards Razzaq and Malik(no offense but the latter to me is a matter of choice, not quality). Another incident which will have an impact on Pakistan team is of S. Afridi lashing out on a sports fan after getting out, these out of the blue, boiling blood should be curtained at any cost by PCB and they should send a strong signal with Afridi’s punishment.
Pakistani bowlers (since coach Woolmer) have bowled less and less yorkers, Yes their L&L has got a bit better but as far as yorkers are concerned, In my opinion either Woolmer doesn’t encourage or bowlers aren’t applying it properly and they are not hold accountable by the think tank (coach, asst. coach…all those guys who give stats to coach). Pakistan team have to work on sending their best pair at the top of the order and to me Nazir and Hameed are the best out there.
As for Saffies, well they are high, actually very high on confidence, in their own backyard its one of the difficult side to beat. Lets see if they can continue in the same fashion.
So the question remains, with which player are you going to swap Azhar?
However, assuming Azhar is not jet-leg and Afridi is available for the second match, we should be courageous enough to give Akmal a rest. Playing Zulqi wont be a long term solution with WC in mind but it will give Akmal some much needed time fr soul searching. I would also drop either Malik or Hafeez. Hafeez has had starts but threw them away EVERY time in this tour so its time Nazir is given a recall.

I disagree here. Naveed has been our best bowler in death overs in recent years. Shoaib does not need to prove that he cannot do that. Gul also learnt to do that. Only Asif remains who need to master this art.

Kallis is the best all-rounder on ICC rankings, he is at his best and he is winning matches for SA.
Azhar is the best all-rounder on our domestic scene, and he can do the same for Pak. He is at his best and he can win matches for Pak as well, if Kallis is winning for SA. (So 88-runs and 3-wickets for him, on paper at least) :)
Azhar <--> Younis/Razzaq/Sami/Rana/Asif/Malik/......
But Younis can hit centuries too and Razzaq is an all-rounder and Sami is a good player,........and we need Azhar as well.
I do think if Pak enter the ground to win, they can win it without Azhar as well but Azhar must be playing in a couple of games if he is sent there and is in good form.

I agree with the fact that Naveed is doing the best but I was speaking about yorkers, and I think he has started bowling less, low on confidence.
hanky phanky huwa to kiya, mein khud hi hibernation mein chala jaoon ga, magar yeh mera kassoor thori hai Men in green ko bolo kay play well, nahi play outstanding game :p
i am not wasting my time on this one. So sad to see that we still dont know our 15 players for the world cup. They are really messed up here. its of no sense to play 4 all rounders. All good teams play with at most 2.

Okay here is a wierd thought, we all are anticipating few chops and changes in the team, what if the coach and captain play the same 11 considering all are fit, I think Razzay is unfit.
