Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

I think the last time I opened a cricket match thread was back in 2004 in the Aus/Pak series, and Pak won that match. Hopefully, Pak will win again tomorrow, and win the ODI series against NZ.

Pakistan vs New Zealand – 3rd and final ODI: The series decider
When: Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 am GMT
(16:00 Pak ST / 06:00 am EST / 05:00 CST / 03:00 PST)

I would like to see Umar Akmal back in the team, and Butt gone (no - his slowwww half century in the last match doesn’t count in my books). Also, hopefully, Pak will show a better fielding performance than the last time.

Good luck Pakistan :k: :jhanda:

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

^^ :hehe:

the news is that Pakistan is going to rest Mohammad Yousuf… talk about inconsistency

wow… so our two best ODI bats (Malik and Yousuf imo) are being “rested” every now and then… but useless folks like Butt and our bipolar kaptaan sahib continue to play?

I don’t get it… why are Malik and Yousuf being treated like this. Yousuf despite his ICL and related shenanigans is a top batsman in ODIs. he knows how to construct the ideal ODI inning. he is a master at pacing the game from a batting pov. from Pakistan, only Inzi was better imo. Malik is also pretty good at playing at the right tempo even if he is far from Yousuf’s class. on top of that, Malik is one of our best fielders.

so, why are games being played with these two of all players? if someone should be rested, it should be one of Butt, Latif or our hormonal, bipolar but very ghayyur kaaptaan…

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

you are right.. but Latif deserves his place.. he needs more time and chance.. so far he has played well under the circumstances given..

NZ will win. :)

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

WTH!!! if anyone need to be dropped from the side it is the Captain Younis Khan and not the inning builder kind of batsman Yousaf.

I guess Younis Khan is not putting excuses of his failures on others, he has rested Umer Akmal. but continued with the person who got 0 in his first game, guess who else got a 0, it is the captain himself, so he let Butt Sahib play and rested the inform and capable batsman like umar akmal. Great decision..

Now he don't know what to do, so instead of taking a leave and let Pakistan win without much trouble ( yes Younis Khan is good for bringing Pakistan under pressure, capable of scoring 3 runs in 5 overs) he is resting Mohammad Yousaf to make sure that there is no or very limited resistance to NZ and black caps can go home happily..

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

Toss time

New Zealand have won the toss and opted to bat. They, expectedly, are unchanged.

“It all depends on luck in a crunch game,” says Younis.**

Mohammad Yousuf is not playing, in comes Umar Akmal, whose absence earlier in the series was baffling. **

2.30 The weather in Abu Dhabi is as it always is, batting first is the way to go, the experts say.

New Zealand team

AJ Redmond, BB McCullum†, MJ Guptill, LRPL Taylor, SB Styris, NT Broom, DL Vettori*, JDP Oram, TG Southee, KD Mills, SE Bond

Pakistan team

Salman Butt, Khalid Latif, Younis Khan*, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal†, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gul, Mohammad Aamer, Saeed Ajmal

Obviously Salman is a much better batsmen than Yousef and the previous strategy of opening with Akmal and dropping salman and playing Yousef was not good enough. Younis needs a batsmen who is a bigger failure than him so he can feel happy that he is not the only one who is not scoring. Pathetic.

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

NewZealand won the toss and elected to bat first, Pakistan without any batsman with technique and experience is totally depended on the its bowlers to win the series.

Lets hope the Salman butt gets out as quickly and cheaply possible so that the chance for Pakistan to win the match increases... lets hope same for the Younis Khan...

I wonder if he knows the meaning of winning with effort… but yes he had to do great deal of effort in almost all the matches ( against strong teams) to bring Pakistan under pressure… he and his comments sucks…

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

7/0 off 2 overs.

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

12/0 off 3

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

i hate when pakistan bowl first

Can you imagine, Muhammed Yousuf with highest average after Tendulkar from India and Pakistan players is sitting outside ...it boils my blood, these silly decisions. I wonder who really makes the decision, whether its Intikhab or Younus.....but whatever the reason, it does not make sense at all, last match Umar Akmal outside and today Yousuf...ridiculous is a small word.

I hate that too.

Re: Pakistan vs NZ - 3rd ODI @ Abu Dhabi - Monday, Nov. 9, 2009

52/0 off 9
