i think inzi n shoaib both rest 4 thiz match
I, for one, think that even though Pakistan start strong favorite for this match, they are perfectly capable of losing to Namibia esp. if they are batting second. Remember the match against Bangladesh in the last world cup. There is this possibility albeit a remote one.

Rehan, you must have some proofs that the ICC and PCB couldn't find regarding the so called "fixed match" in 99 WC.
If you do, please share with us. If you don't, then admit.

I wud say we rest Shoaib for this match. It wudn't be wise to take the risk to play Shoaib, because we need him 100% fit against the stronger teams. Also, I think Wasim should be rested, and in for these two, Sami and Saqlain should be brought in. This is the team which should play against Namibia :
Saeed Anwar
Saleem Elahi
Yousef Youhana
Inzamam-Ul-Haq
Younis Khan
Shahid Afridi
Abdul Razzaq
Rashid Latif
Saqlain Mushtaq
Waqar Younis
Mohammad Sami
In reply to all the pleas for resting Wasim and Shoaib…if these players were so fragile and injury-prone why are they in the WC squad to begin with?. THIS IS WORLD CUP and not some Millat Fan trophy being played in Gujranwala. Common guys and gals… get real. We need to win EVERY match and win it with the biggest margin possible.

:k: True. What do they need rest for. They only bowled 10 overs and that was 3 days ago. Thsi is not the time to experiment either, we shoudl go with our best team all the tiem. Therefore drop Afridi and bring in Saqlain.
Thats true but we also have to take in concern that these players specially fast bowlers like Wasim and Shoaib are injury prone, though there is a very good chance they might survive the whole tournament without a major injury but there is always a little doubt.
We need to give guys like Muhhamd Sami, and Azhar Mahmood some time playing international cricket so in case our front line player is injured or taken out of the game for some reason, than we can have a proper backup.
So far we have only seen Razzaq and he is been quite off form lately, we have yet to see Azhar Mahmood play in a international match in a long time. And who knows he might just be in better form than Razzaq.
Same goes for Saeed, everyone has their doubts about his form and we are deeply needed of a world class opener, they only way to find out is to play him against an international team, its better to play him against Namibia than play him against India not knowing if he is in good touch or not.
Thats why I advice that we should play the remaining 4 players who didn't play against Australia to see what kind of form they are in.
Saeed Anwar
Taufeeq Umar (keeper)
Saleem Elahi
Inzimam ul Haq
Younis Khan
Azhar Mahmood
Abdul Razzaq
Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
Saqlain Mushtaq
Muhammad Sami
I think Afridi should play against any sides with a sub-standard attack. Namibia, Holland, India etc all come under that category. he definitely shouldn't play aginst the likes of Australia, West Indies, SA etc.

Thats the main concern, he plays so well against weak sides like New Zealand or India which gives him a call when Pakistan plays bigger sides like Australia and he does horribly.

Yes.. I totally agree he is more like Agarkar.... who should be played against substandrad team like Pakistan and Bangladesh....
Please never compare Afridi to Agarkar, yes Afridi isn't a class act but comparing him to Agarkar is an insult.

so play him against the weak sides and pick someone more suitable against the rest. Why treat everyone the same when they aren't?
Yes, please do not compare Afridi with Agarkar...
Agarkar can bat you know...
AQ lol…I can understand your frustration. Calling Pakistan a substandard team
with Pakistan loosing to world class Aussis andSouth Africa and India loosing to B class NZ and WI…ur frustration can be understandable :dixsi:
Check out the world ranking once again and read the meaning of substandard once again… India sure is a B class…not in the top 4:wave: now happy???

Fit-again Saeed prepares for long bowl
From Waheed Khan
KIMBERLEY: Pakistan got the good news on Friday that veteran opener Saeed Anwar had recovered from a elbow injury and would play in the next match against minnows Namibia on Sunday.
The left-hander who missed the first match against Australia after being struck on the elbow by a snorter from Shoaib Akhtar in the nets had two full batting practice sessions since the team arrived in Kimberley on Wednesday evening.
And it was heartening to see him middling and timing the ball sweetly which has been Saeed's hallmark since his debut.
One also got a fair idea of the game plan being prepared by the team's think tank when Saeed was given a long bowl in the nets on both days with coach Richard Pybus insisting he bowl long spells as he would be required in the matches.
"I am feeling alright now and the elbow is not causing much problems. Main thing I was worried about how it would hold up in fielding but even after bowling I feel okay," said Saeed.
The veteran opener who plans to retire after the World Cup stated he was disappointed at missing the first match but believed Pakistan would comeback into the tournament.
Captain Waqar Younis conceded that given the importance of the tournament, the team management was contemplating on some innovative game plan for the remaining part of the tournament like having Saeed share the bowling and push someone up from the middle and lower order to the first three positions.
"Nothing is decided as yet but the five senior players in the team (Wasim, Waqar, Rashid, Inzamam and Saeed) had a discussion on changing our strategy and surprising the opponents but nothing is decided as yet," he said.
