Pakistan vs India, 2nd ODI, DLF Cup- Wednesday April 19

Re: Pakistan vs India, 2nd ODI, DLF Cup- Wednesday April 19

I think Afridi's dismissal for duck and Malik falling to the spectacular catch by Yuvraj....were the two main reasons for Pak's inability to chase down the target. Else, the match would have certainly gone down to the wire.

Having said that, Pakistan were also lucky that Inzimam survived 2 clear chances of LBWs.

ok after going thru the posts on this thread over the last many pages, it seems a lot of the guppies did not get an understanding of the match at all.
some guppy was saying how dravid was responsible for india not gtting 300.
some other guppy was saying how ball seams more in second half blah blaH blah etc.

my analysis of the 2 matches and the sheikh zayed stadium is as follows.
the pitch at the stadium is of a unique kind. the ball comes on to the bat easily when the ball is new i.e in the initial 20 overs or so. as the ball gets old, on this pitch, the ball wasnt coming onto the bat and hitting thru the line was becoming increasingly difficult. this pitch was not made for the pitch hitter kind of batsmen but more for the grafters like younis and dravid who play proper orthodox shots to accumulate runs.
having said that, there definitely was a lot of lateral seam movement in the initial 20 overs for bowlers of both sides. it was here that the indians made merry as their sreesanth and agarkar and pathan bowled a nagging line and moved the ball lateraly quite well. especially agarkar was very impressive.
as for the night time, the indian had a big disadvantage of boling underlights. the reason is that the ball mixed with due forms a soapy layer making it very hard to grip for the spinners. the pakistanis spinners, m,alik and afridi were lucky that they had the dry and somewhat out of shape ball to bowl with. thi was the reason, the indians after a good start were not able to accelerate in the middle overs as the ball was hard to hit thru the line on this pitch.
dravid showed his incredible cricketing acumen by choosing to bat today and coming out as opener as that was the best time to milk the bowling.
if inzy wanted to win, he simply had to stack up all the “proper” batsmen at the top of the order. something line…inzy younis moyo akmal malik farhat razzak would be the ideal line up.
another potential problem with the pakistani team is the fact that they start running helter skelter as soon as “boom boom”:halo: afridi gets out.
this kind of dependence on such a pathologically irresponsible cricketer could prove a costly mistake in the world cup.

Apparently it will take decades before they can reach “MATURITY” level required to grace the playing XI. The kind of maturity the likes of Sami, Rao, Arafat and Gul have worked so hard to achieve. Heck Rana has the hairline to prove it.

agar yeh soch kar khelogey ke kahin haar na jaaye, to kabhi nahi jeetogey, mere bhai.
the indians cud have also thought ke dravid out ho gaya to 150 bhi nahin hoga. but they went out postively, with the captain leading by example.
the real reason why the indians are finding so many young boys doing well is cos their captain is leading by example ad inspiring them.
in pakistan, inzi plays with an aloof attitude and the rest of the team dont find any inspiration.

I watched under 19 final on TV, the intensity and the shape to bowl those bowlers were giving was excellent.
They should atleast be travelling with the team...

Re: Pakistan vs India, 2nd ODI, DLF Cup- Wednesday April 19

Today's match... and many matches Pakistan has lost due to captain..

  1. Very unimaginative use of power plays, letting Sehwag settle down and give him powerplays was hillarious. Commentrators were laughing.
  2. Losing wicket early in the game, when you knew from previous day experience and experience day night matches in Pakistan, that later in the day dew sets in and batting becomes easier.
  3. If Afridi needed to be tried why not open innings with him, why one down. His wicket made it two down and increased pressure. Rather than putting anchor after one down.

Ofcourse - India fielding and catches was another factor for India winning the match.

Shoaib Malik should be made Captain.

  • The Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC) is planning to organise its first tri-nation tournament in September/October this year. This announcement was made by B.R. Shetty, president of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC).

  • He expressed hope that India and Pakistan would participate in the competition along with one more team for which negotiations were under way with Australia.

One more for Abu Dhabi, and one more in the “supposed” best rivalry column. To keep the emotions alive, we have got one more “thrilling encounter” in the next two days.

And that, my friend, is Shaharyaar Khan for you, the guy who has seen exotic beauties and has transformed Pakistan into what it is known today (which I forgot :D).
