Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Just heard his interview on sky sports. Speaks good english. He basically said that the coach has said to him and Tnavir that whoever bowls well in the nets will get the chance and he must have impressed waqar.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Great job by him!! I wish & pray that we get such bowlers all the time!!

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

you shouldn't judge a player based on one inn, let see how he does in next two three series

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Dude, he got 5 wickets in 1, not 1, 2 or 3. I'd definitely judge him for that .. cheers!!

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

^^ wow ... just based on one inning's performance?

remember, once there was a Jalal uddin who took 5 wkts in his debut test (not single inning though) as well as world's first hat trick in ODI both against Australia. Didn't last long afterwards. Many don't even know his name today.

So lets see how this bloke works out for the team.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Good job by debutant :k:

Hopefully Pakistan will continue the good work tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Dude, its not just one inning, its an important inning based on the conditions and everything. We should admire him no matter what.

And Jalaluddin, who desnt remember him (cricketlover) ! The first hat-trick maker in One-days coming from hyderabad I believe. He was very talented indeed. He couldnt carry further, may be due to Imran Khan's fast bowling battery already there.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Debutant of the day
Wahab you been all this time? Wahab Riaz’s last competitive outing came against Leicestershire a month ago, and with just five ODIs and a solitary Twenty20 in his international career to date, he was something of an unknown quantity coming into this game - especially having picked up a meagre 14 wickets at 41.50 for National Bank in the recent Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. But no matter what the state of their overall team may be, Pakistan have never been short of fast-bowling reserves, and Wahab tore onto the offensive with four wickets in his first nine overs as a Test cricketer, and 5 for 63 all told. One cautionary footnote, however. **He is the ninth Pakistani to claim five wickets on debut, but with the exception of Shahid Afridi, who was primarily selected as a batsman, none of them went on to achieve greater deeds. **:hmmm:

Happy for Wahab....good to see they went him - he has pace and he is a good asset with his aggression. Also delighted to see Yasir play so well....when you see him play those excellent cover drives with perfect footwork and execution, you wonder why he kept falling into the trap of chasing wide ones outside off and getting out after playing himself in...

Anyway, hope he's learned from his mistakes and makes a big one - he is definately a way better player than his average shows.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

A great day for Pakistan. Wahab was amazing. Important thing was that he took all top order wickets. Its a memorable debut and hope he builds on that performance.

Yasir's positive approach has certainly showed he was needed throughout this tour. He looked compact, aggressive. Pitch is better no doubt but at least he is looking to score. Hope he will get a longer run in the team. I always thought Salman Butt and Yasir Hameed have been the best opening pair for us in recent times but they never got a decent run to prove that. Its never too late though! :)

I just wonder whether Farhat has it in him to score big now. People have maligned him so much for his irresponsible stroke play in the past. Maybe now he plays too defensively and doesnt look for runs at all. Remember when he emerged on the scene he was a good stroke maker and defensively but now after shoring up his defense a bit, he seems to have lost the strokes or the will to be aggressive. I hope that doesnt happen to Umar Akmal.

the weather forecast for tomorrow is heavy rain. :(

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Man, it'll be great swing in ball esp in early day tomorrow. I hope they play with straight bat.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Just saw some highlights..Wahab is quick.
He consistently bowled at 87- 89 mph. Fastest bowler of the series so far. He doesn't do much off the wicket or in the air. I am not surprised his domestic average on desi pitches is not that great. He shows a lot of promise for future if he can improve his skills otherwise only pace wouldn't get him far.

Like we have been saying Pakistani players are having to deal with a 'mental' handicap...yet another example of how a new player shows more confidence and delivers. All replacements i.e. Ajmal, Haider, Wahab, Yasir have performed...enough said.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Very true, I have noticed for a while now that the Pakistan team has adopted a "defeatist" attitude. This is the reason why we lose so many close games, just think back to some recent ODI's, T20's and test matches. That self belief is missing, even when we are winning we often squander the advantage because the only way know how to play is from behind. Where is that aggressive, devil may care attitude of yesteryear? Despite such a defensive and ultraconservative mindset, we have lost matches by huge margins. Why then is there fear, what are we afraid of, winning?

It kind of reminds of the Indian team in the 90's and early 00's. Even when they had the superior team, they would falter. Aggression and an alternative mindset from players emerging players like Dhoni, Sehwag etc. has now changed all that.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

How can a cricket lover don’t know the name of bowler who did **first hat trick in ODI :nahi: **Anyone, who will be looking for hat tricks in ODI’s will find his name on the top :jhanda:

thx a lot for supporting Pakistan and hope you will remain kind in future

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

From England's point of view this series is not a very good sign for their Ashes series. Their key players are out of touch. They sure are going to lose Ashes.

With MoYo back and Younis' (latest development today), it seams like we soon will have a decent squad that can put 300+ on regular basis. If Yasir, Azhar and Butt all chip in more consistently than Umar Akmal can be kicked out from Test squad forever and for good. The guy is a Afridi case in Test, doesn't have temprament at all.

Butt
Damad (majboori) (Yasir)
Yasir (Azhar)
Azhar (Alam)
MoYo
Yunis (Amin)
Zulqi
Amir
Gul (Wahab if he proves his skill beyond this innings)
Asif
Ajmal

This team should put up a fight on most of the grounds around the world (minus Aus). Let the two old chap play for another couple of years to have others groom around them.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

So that’s why he is giving proper reply to England team :lajawab:

17.6
Anderson to Riaz, no run, What an end to an enthralling day’s play at the Oval! full delivery, sharp hooping inswinger, slanted back in, Riaz falls over, misses, gets rapped on the pads, Tony Hill immediately rejects the appeal, England think about a review, then decide against it, replays show that it was sliding down the leg side, another good decision from Hill, Anderson and Riaz again have a go at each other, all in good humour though and they walk off. @ 142.66 kmph
17.5
Anderson to Riaz, no run, angled back in, sharp swing for Anderson as well, it hits the pad, sliding down the leg side, rolls down to short leg @ 142.07 kmph
17.4
Anderson to Riaz, no run, a bouncer, over the leg stump, Riaz ducks and lets it go, Anderson has a word with him, Riaz responds back, telling him to go back and bowl, Riaz has a big smile on his face as well @ 143.49 kmph

Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22

Finn to Yasir Hameed, OUT, but that is out! It was a similar ball, rising from a length and moving away off the seam. Again Hameed looked very uncertain, being squared up at the crease and just pushing at the ball outside off to send a regulation nick through to Prior. England strike early!

**Yasir Hameed c †Prior b Finn 36 (53b 6x4 1x6) SR: 67.92 **
