However, victory shouldn't gloss over the glaring blunders made by the Pakistan think tank. They have shown they will not learn from their mistakes, and persisted with Arshad Khan as a super sub. I think Salman Butt is more of a threat with the ball than Arshad. Once again our upcoming young guns are rotting in the sidelines whilst 35 year olds get a free ride. Who knows what other talent like Akmal would have had a chance to shine in such a series, unfortunately they were never given an opportunity.
Inzi's captaincy was appalling just when we thought he was getting the hang of it. Lets hope he learns fast. The WC 07 is not faraway, and Pakistan will not always be able to get away with such horrendous tactics.
Hats off to Shoaib for four magical deliveries. Fifth one was run ogf the mill slog overs dismissal but others were just magical. He is back to his best and makign sure he has a permanent place in ODIs too.

Mostly it has been a bowler who was given a status of “rising star” by our batsmen, though there were occasions of a bowler-promoted to-all rounder… so this one was just another of those where our captain lets spinners throw the unseen web around batsmen and tailender smashing the web?
Since when was his position in the ODI team in jeopardy? Yeah he was out of the India/West Indies series, but his place in the team was pretty much a given if he righted a few wrongs. Heck, with the commitment he has shown (in both batting and bowling), even if he didn’t pick ANY wicket the whole Test and ODI series, he’d still be picked hands down over any other bowler. If someone’s place in the side need to be examined, it’s Sami’s, but even he seems to be a permanent member despite producing pedestrian bowling figures most of the time.
Acha acha, I admit… shayad kuch ziada hi keh dia… but if Mohammad Sami can keep his place in the side, then Shoaib Akhtar should should be assured of a place for lifetime.
