so we lost the 1st one … well in the last few series we seldom won the 1st match of a ODi series (except the series in WI)
Well i’m sure the odd change towards a batting Allrounder instead of kani is going to happen until the 3rd match (Afridi’s return)

This time around I think, Inzi and Company will go for the Kill, in fact they almost did it today. I am sure Moyo and Malik are going to get a earful from Bablu Chacha and Inzi!!!
They have to decide the super sub a day or 2 earlier. so how are they suppose to know if they are going to bat first or bowl. It's a guess. Inzi thought they were going to bat 1st thats why arshad was the sub so when they bowl they could put someone like salman butt in and bring him out
Our team composition will look much better after afridi returns in the 3rd ODI. At that stage they can have a super sub bolwer. We need to have a batsman as a supersub atleast for the 2nd ODI.
In my opinion this kind of team should play, it gives you a perfect balance, batting strength till 9/10 (your call really) and you have 6 bowling options, and I think Yasir Hameed and Butt should be given a full run, I know he (yasir) will comeback to form. I mean Coach Woolmer said himself he wants to experiment, well then experiment in the right places, such as openers fisaco, its not settled yet, and Kami can hit the ball out of the park in the last stages so why waste him and add pressure on top of the order, and if you want to add another spin option well then switch with Sami. 1) Salman Butt
INSHALLAH stage will be set for Afridi in 3rd ODI at his home ground, Karachi. with Pakistan being 2-0 down(predicting :D). Shahid Khan Afridi will lead the revival of sleepy giant Pakistan team and Pakistan will go on to win the last 3games and series. INSHALLAH
I agree, it is effecting team balance but I think Pakistan is good enought to beat them with or without Afridi. Last match was on of those days. They will winnext one.
Also, please NO Akmal as opener. We donot want chappel like experimentation in Pakistani team. Do we?
With Afridi missing, Akmal was the next natural choice unless we had opted to play a regularo pner in the side like Imran Farhat, Yasir Hameed or someone else. I think this Akmal experimentation is not a good thing for the team or Akmal. He along with Razaaq and Afridi use to once make an explosive lower middle order. With Afridi opening he would be a handul along with Razaaq in the lower order but as an opener he just doesnt cut it. Despite his recent heroics with the bat he is not really good enough to be an opener. In the lower order though he could be explosive when the ball is a little old.
Although Akmal has done well being an openor in past (a very short one) .. I am just against the idea of Akmal being an openor. Wicket keepers usually do the hardest work in the ground along with bowlers .. and then if you send 'em after just half an hour break .. they'll naturally not going to be too comfortable opening. Akmal has a lot of potential and he deserves more than that.
^ True shoaib has been brilliant in the one down position average well over 40 there. And considering our shaky opening starts, when he went in one down it was pretty much as an opener. On subcontinental wickets I would definitely back shoaib in the top order in ODI's.
Bechara Akmal must have thought is opening days were over after repeated failures after the lone century. Guess Woolmer and Inzi haven't learned their lesson yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see him open again still Afridi comes.

I hope Inzimam & Co would show some authority in knowing ‘Gadafi Stadium’ wicket better than the visitors and play one seamer less and Mushi would be given a chance pairing Kaneria (2nd OD) which they should have done for the 1st OD.
In a fifty over slot and power play factor, playing seamers can only make you bleed more on flat track.
With spinners at least you stand a chance of creating more opportunities.
Inzimam lacks this in-depth thinking and he should adopt such approaches as well. It would do wonders to his Captaincy. Arshad khan’s supersub selection is evident of this naive approach to the game one.
Sami should be rested and ‘Mushi’ should pair with Kaneria.

Arafat is long due to play. He has been consistent on dom circuit.
Kamran Akmal is a top class player with superb professional game attitude.
He should be conistently tried on uno spot. Lets not give up on him. (Therefore we don’t need Yasir Hameed) Afridi when he comes is fine on 5th or 6th spot.
Mushy tushy and kaneria these guys shouldn't be let anyway near to our ODI side. kaneria is shi8 in one day. yet he moans that he can play ODI. he should only be allowed to play test. but no worries once Afridi comes in no more Kaneria. INSHALLAH
