Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Asad Rauf is my new hero.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

i guess maybe the umpire thought that jones hit the wicket first with his arm (or parts of it) and then with the gloves … in any case stuff for the pomms to fume about t … if it was Eng batsmen probably i would’ve reacted the same way as the English do right now

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

no fuss was heard about numerous lbw decisions going trescothics's way, but ONE case where benefit of doubt goes to Pakistani batsman, all the whining starts

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

can a pakistani be the 3rd umpire? wow man, way to go another pakistani ump putting his name in eng pak history

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Usually after every match umpires get a report of their umpiring and how good/bad were theyre decisions. If you make too many bad decisions you can have trouble getting international recognition. I think Asad Rauf doesnt care about getting that int'l rep so he made a sacrifice lol.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

according to cricinfo: replay showed that Salman is just in after lot of replays, Green
light comes on
Flintoff comes to bowl

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

if i remember right Butt was run-out once in similar fashion

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Thats because LBW decisions are much harder to guage by field umpires than sitting in a room watching a monitor with 6 camera views.

Although i dont know if LBW’s can be referred upstairs not too, can they?

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

From CricInfo

replay showed that Salman is just in after lot of replays, Green
light comes on

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Pakistan lead by 100 runs, mashallah

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

very disappointed with such biased commentary, despite being in such a strong position, english commentators are crying like babies. The sporting thing to have said that such decisions go both ways like Pakistan missing out on lbw's in the English innings.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

cricinfo usually go with whatevers happened on the field. They rarely give their own opinion.

Captain Lota

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Asad Ruaf Zindabad. Getting/Shakoor Rana II in the making.....

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

when u look at it closely there were some doubts because i think Jones hits the wickets first with his elbow (or part of the arm without the gloves) so in this case he is not out … how often u see fielders at non-strikers end try to receive the ball inorder to hit the wickets and while doing this they hit the wickets with other parts of their body than hands … in these case the run-out will not be given i think … please correct me if i’m wrong

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

Either way we’re never gonna hear the end of this if pak manages to win or draw. :hehe:

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

I think it wasn't as clear of a run out as Ramiz and the English commentator are making it to be. The cleanest view was side on from square leg position. There was one frame, where Jones had clearly moved the stumps but the bails were not dislodged (at least not visibly, you can extrapolate that if the stumps move, so the bails should come off but still..). The next frame, stumps were shattered but Salman was in.

The benefit of doubt should always go to batsman in such cases.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

No, their debate is on the fact that the 3rd umpire has technological utilities such as instant replays to review the run out, before making the final decision.

Whereas in an lbw situation, it comes from a split of a second from the angle your at. (these things happen to everyone, in every game)

But the fact that you have the tv in order to review your decision, and you still get it wrong. Then whats the point of having the 3rd umpire?

And in my opinion, it was a clear run out.

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

No draw please!!!I want us to go for the kill now. We still have danish and the 5th day...

Re: Pakistan vs England, 1st Test, Multan

What matters is he is NOT OUT. Let us move on and let the poms cry over it.

Meanwhile the england setup seems to be a bit demoralized and khamosh se after lunch. Wonder why.

Captain Lota
