Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
Last few overs were understandably tense. Bowlers were trying new things and Ponting was trying different field placings.. But kudos to Salman and Azhar for showing remarkable concentration thus far. Hopefully they will continue tomorrow with same application :k:
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
Pakistan got 2 full days to play…180 overs though…RRR for victory for Pakistan is around 1.81 with 9 wickets remaining…so Pakistan need to exercise** patience: the name of this game…
:)**
I meant because Azhar is a newbie. ![]()
it is very difficult to play 180 overs for Pakistan runs no prob if we can play full day tomorrow we will win but its overcast and some showers ball will swing and Australia will get a new ball around lunch just after it will there will be some serious seam movement as well plus the morning moist in the pitch will make things worst and there is 1 more prob, the pitch is 3 days old and ball will start to spin so pakis will have to play out of them brown skins…
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
Pak's score at the close of play, goes to show if you be patient, building a partnership on this wicket is possible. iA more of the same tomorrow.
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
IF we dont loose any wicket first 1 hour and then an hour with the new ball we should be fine but its a long shot
sigh I have been in this situation too often to expect anything better. Yes "if we survive for x hours, y may happen etc etc." However, on the way, we WILL lose some wickets and I don't see any spine in the lower order to hope against a panic induced collapse.
I expect this match to get over tomorrow with Pakistan on the losing side, unfortunately. It's Test cricket after all.
If damaad plays the second test match it would just be a shame.
There is no reason why Pakistan should lose from here. The batsmen should take ownership of the result.
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
It all depends on how the weather behaves. Let’s hope it sunny tomorrow.

with sunny weather pitch becomes so dead like paki wickets. some years back srilankans scored 500+ on the same pitch .
Proved by aussies tail enders . They were playing at ease even imran farhat was not getting beaten out side off to many which is quite un usual
Itni gehreein batein na kiya karein. ![]()
A fact of test cricket which we all are be aware of. Teams regardless of the type of batsmen they have, when batting last are generally not able to chase anything above 400 regardless of the type of pitch and weather.
Lets hope Pakistan's performance tomorrow will help batsmen in building their confidence for the rest of the summer.
First time I saw confidence in Salman who was trying to face the bowlers most of the time to save Azhar ![]()
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
Afridi should learn from the low order batsman of Aussies who scored more then 100 in last 2 wkt partnerships ![]()
But Waqar Younis should groom the bowlers to finish the tail early ![]()
114/1 at stumps
can I dream the undreamable?
well played salman and more so Azhar
Better not hope for too much. My guess is the game will be over before tea tomorrow. The thing with Australians is, that whenever there's a break in session, and a stubborn partnership is in place, they come up with excellent plans to break the partnership. Most likely they'll be able to break the partnership within the first 5 overs of the day, and it's all downhill from there.
And to put this in perspective, even if Pakistan had Miandad, Majid, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam, Yousaf, it'd still be extremely difficult to make 400+ runs in the 4th innings.
The journey from 114 to 250 is quiet long. 440 shows defensive mindset of Ponting (surprisingly) against Pakistan. He should have declared when the lead was 300. I guarantee you that he will sort each batsman out in a classic Aussie way.
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
As I said earlier we need 4 partnerships of 100 each and we will be home. So far we have had one of 50 and the second one unbeaten of 101.
Pak 151/1
Salman 82 not out
Azhar 42 not out.
Come on Pakistan. ![]()
Re: Pakistan vs Australia - First Test (July 13-17)
