It has suddenly gone dark out there and umpire Gould is having a look. And they are off for bad light. Australia won't mind that one bit, but Pakistan would have loved another five minutes with the ball.

So that brings an end to an action-packed day of Test action which has seen 15 wickets fall with ball again dominating bat. Pakistan collapsed to 148 all out with some poor strokeplay against the moving ball as Shane Watson bagged his first Test five-for, but Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul have led Pakistan's fightback. Australia are still in the box-seat with a lead of 205 and will still have hopes of extending that to around 350.
Giving Watson 5 wickets is absolutely criminal.
Poor poor batting by Pakistan.

Nothing very surprising here. Pretty much what we have come to expect from our batters in tests over the past 6 or 7 years and this batting line-up is very young and inexperienced at this level. The batters don't seem to know how to approach test batting, they have no patience or temperament to stay at the wicket.
By all accounts this test is lost. Australia already have a 200 odd lead. cannot see Pak chasing 150 never mind 300+ with the current batting line-up. feel sorry for the bowlers though. They did their bit in this test
Should Pakistan only play T20 cricket until they sort out their test batting?

If Hussey, Clarke, and Ponting are struggling on a seaming wicket, what chances do our batters have? Hope is still alive though I guess!

Pakistan's test innings lasted for 40 overs, less than a full ODI innings.

Imran Khan once said that Test Cricket is about 3 T's - Talent, Technique and Temperament. T20 only tests your talent
ofcourse you need talent but TEMPERAMENT is the single most important thing you need to survive at the crease and excel in test cricket and I think out current batters just don't have that.
We have seen players with even the crabbiest techniques do well in test cricket just because they had temperament
case in point: Ijaz Ahmed, Chanderpaul

Ijaz Ahmed had talent, no one could play fast bowlers better than him in his good days. Had a very good hand eye coordination.

It's better to lose with young players than with same old farts. I'm glad Azhar ali and Umer Amin played in place of Yasir and Malik. Maybe in second test, these washed up players will be back depnding how umer and azhar perform in their second innings.
