Pakistan vs Australia, 3rd Test, Hobart Jan 14-18, 2010

Re: Pakistan vs Australia, 3rd Test, Hobart Jan 14-18, 2010

Congrats to all Pak cricket lovers, not really for the loss, but hope that with this loss we might get some heads rolling (hope against hope).

Re: Pakistan vs Australia, 3rd Test, Hobart Jan 14-18, 2010

Khurram Manzoor played amazingly well. His concentration was something to admire. He and Aamer ate up 30 overs and australians were frustrated to say the least. Hope he can continue that in future.

Congrats to Pakistan team! The way they somehow managed to be beaten 3-0 by THIS aussie side is commendable.. shabash jawano!

it was a bliss not to have watched this match. :chai:

3 is true (I should have said on or within leg stump if you are bowling around the wicket). I have seen many times, batsmen deliberately padding up to balls pitched outside leg stump line when spinners are bowling around the wicket. You cannot be given out LBW (from around the wicket) even if you are playing no shot if the ball pitches outside line of leg stump

I didnt follow the match much for the last day, but was amazed to read about Ammer and Khurrums batting... Khurrum did an excelletn job in eating up so many overs and showing some patience class.. The only thing that is lacking in our so called seniors and one junior is patience.. I would not recomend Umar Akmal for Tests any more, he is not test class, he likes to throw his wicket every now and then. I cannot consider him a lambi race kaa ghoraa, ( horse of a long race).

PCB really should bring more juniors in the team, perhaps juniors have shown more spine in the team, then our so called seniors. Recently Fawad Alam showed some act as an opener, then again he was dropped for no reason.

Again, bowling OVER and AROUND the wicket is not relevant. The only thing that matters is that the ball must not pitch outside the leg stump. An offspinner could ball AROUND the wicket, have the ball pitch in line with the stumps and get an LBW. A legspinner could ball AROUND the wicket to a left-hander and easily get LBWs. Wasim Akram used to bowl AROUND the wicket to right-handers and get LBWs. Again, the ball must pitch either in line with the stumps or outside the off stump.

Re: Pakistan vs Australia, 3rd Test, Hobart Jan 14-18, 2010

^^ Meray bhai,,, Bowling around the wicket and then pitching in line and then getting it hit the wicket is not an easy task. Wasim akmran was a master class, he used to bowl, around the wicket to a right handed batsman, then the only way he can get a LBW in his favour is when he would bowl an OUT SWINGER from AROUND the wicket, else, an in swinger or a straight delivery would take the ball beyond leg stump. Take an example like the,, Wasim Akram, bowling round the wicket to right hand batsman, e.g. Tendi, so if the ball pitches on leg stump or middle stump, then it needs to be an outswinger for it to hit the stumps, lese an in swinger or straight delivery would take it away from the batsman.

This LBW is pretty tricky, and the review/hawkeye system has opened a new pandora box of mistakes done by the umpires in the past.

Re: Pakistan vs Australia, 3rd Test, Hobart Jan 14-18, 2010

^^ I am only talking about what the law is regarding LBWs. Whether the bowler has the talent and the skills is entirely another matter. If the law doesn't allow LBWs from AROUND the wicket, then it is immaterial whether Wasim Akram was a master class or not. But this is not the case. The law disallows LBWs if the ball pitches outside leg, not whether the bowler bowls around, over, doosra, legspin, offspin, orthodox, chinaman, etc.

A good offspinner bowling AROUND the wicket could turn the ball sharply and get the batsman LBW.
