Re: Pakistan versus India

I have many friends in Mumbai who have been to Karachi. They say it feels like being home. Even today Karachi businessmen think themselves closer to Mumbai businessmen. Karachi and Mumbai have the same business culture and the same we are the best in the country pride. In the time of British raj, Karachi was to be considered Bombay’s younger sister.

Re: Pakistan versus India

pakistan has better dressed and better looking people in general!

Mere aamika khana duniya me sabase achha!

Re: Pakistan versus India

Yea, i think ur rite…i think India and Pakistan have a few obvious similarities, but apart from them, the countries are different…my friends who are Indian also agree…outsiders think we are alike because they don’t know all the little details that we (Pakis and Indians) know…they see similar food, clothes, faces, language and assume the two countries are alike in every sense…but they cannot help it…only we know (after taking a closer look) that we are quite different from each other…

About cities in Pakistan…i agree with most here that Karachi is so dirty (and i’m not just saying that cos i’m from Lahore :Di have a bhabi from Karachi)…but in general, people from Karachi are not as nice with u, and are not as good looking as Lahoris…but yes, i have heard that north Pakistan is totally gorgeous, can’t wait to go there someday

Re: Pakistan versus India

Before the Earthquake struck, I would've suggested that you visit Azad Kashmir, believe me you would've had a blast. Majority of it is clean, people are nice and friendly and the terrain is mind blowing. Also visit Abbottabad if you haven't already, it's one of the cleanliest cities in pak + the fact that's it's a scenic beauty.

Re: Pakistan versus India

you spent 1.5 months in N.India and a 'few days' in NWPF
...and at the end of these periods, NWPF was cleaner.

so what does this tell you?

THE FEWER DAYS YOU ARE IN A PLACE, THE CLEANER THAT PLACE IS

Re: Pakistan versus India

Abbotabad is a great place man. Not far from Islamabad not overpopulated, gets cool at times.
Just awsome... Though I aint been there since the quake

Re: Pakistan versus India

Re: Pakistan versus India

In all the cities of Pakistan, there are areas which are reasonably clean. There are slum areas as well, which are aptly named. Peshawar is the same. The cantonment, the Univeristy, the Univeristy Town, Defence and the Hayatabad area are OK. The City area, the saddar area, Gul Bahar area are not clean.

In Karachi, the defence and the clifton area are very clean. A big part of the city is not very clean.

Lahore has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Because of the new road structure, the city looks nice and clean. It has its slums as well.

I have many friends from India and have non-Indian friends who have visited both Pakistan and India. From their prespective, Mumbai overall is not a clean city. Even the posh area of the city are not clean. There are loads of homeless people in Mumbai who sleep on the road sides. The roads are full of potholes everywhere (though it is improving). Even coming out of massive 5-star hotels, it appears that you have stepped out into slums. So I don't think there is much of a comparision between Mumbai and Karachi.

Apart from Mumbai (because of its enormous population), the other cities of India should be very similar to the ones in Pakistan.

I did not put this information to incite people. It is the information which I have come to know over a long period. May be someone will correct my (dis)information.
