Classic Pakistani responses after the loss today
“The match was fixed… likhwa lo!”
“C’mon yaar… the team was in the semis in every T20 WC before this. No big deal.”

Yes… conspiracy theories and resting on past laurels are the two psychological coping mechanisms our people rely on. My fellow countrymen, come out of your la la land and get a grip on reality. The team sucked today and there’s a lot to fix! You won’t be able to fix it until you wake up and smell the coffee.

If you consider the famous 3 Ts that Imran Khan uses to evaluate players (Talent, Technique, Temperament)… it is blatantly obvious that our players lack technique and temperament… and we are banking too much simply on “talent” alone. We seem to be okay in finding talent, but we’re not doing enough to teach technique and foster temperament. Why couldn’t even one batsman play spin today? lack of technique… why couldn’t Gul or Ajmal adapt to the situation? lack of temperament… why did the batting lineup implode? lack of temperament… our team just can’t handle pressure situations. We need to go back to the basics of cricket.
