Pakistan v WI Tri-series First Final 1996-7

The only tri-series Pakistan has ever won in Australia. Australia failed to make it to the finals that year and an Akram-led Pakistan beat Windies 2-0. Can somebody please put this in the GS Cricket Library downloadable section?

OMG where did you find this? Mushy and Afridi spin in action ...as well as
s*n of a b**ch hair in action again in this ..lol. he looks like a puppuu here..although deciding against a WAQAR LBW appeal against Simmons in the 32nd over...... great example of "Haired" umpiring...
but Waqar came back to still get simmons the next ball...
excellent game GA!!

Man...this match brought back memories..
Wasim decided to Open with INZI...??!!! WOW!
and look at some of the other players...chanderpaul looks so puppoo

Glad you liked it AA. Somebody posted it on GEO site. I was actually more interested in watching the second game in which rookie fast bowler Mohammad Zahid dismissed Lara for not many. He was genuinely quick but sadly a back injury ended his career prematurely.

it was not zahid but Shahid Nazir. I distinctly remember each and every game of that series.
Pakistan kicked Aussie A$$ big time in that series. Some of the highlights of that series was the first time I saw Afridi using his fast delivery. In the very first game Pakistan beat Australia in a tight game. During that game Afridi got rid of Blewett by his fast delivery and blewett had no idea what happened to his stumps.
Saqlain was simply unplayable during that series. He use to bowl during crunch sitations and was getting crucial dismissals. Even a target of 170+ was really difficult for teams to chase against Pakistan.
Remember Afridi socred a century in the first final. Was hit by Ambrose' really fast ball on the helmet and the next ball he hit the ball like a maniac for a boundary.

but you were absolutely right there about Shahid Nazir claiming Lara’s wicket in the second final which begs the question where has he been all this time? Pakistan successfully defended a pathetic total of 165!!! but then we had real match-winning bowlers back then.

Fascinating matches. Simply too good for a Sunday afternoon. Waqar was excellent during this series, as well was Afridi with his breakthroughs via faster leg-breaks. The duo of Ijaz/Moin were in prime form and hit the ball all over the park.

Loved the couple. Thanks for the scorecards and for posting, Asif Bhai and nice discussion on the series as well.

No problems Dhobi bhai. Although they were both low-scoring matches, I enjoyed the second match more as we successfully defended a paltry total of 165 not to mention the comical run-out of Inzi with both Ijaz and Inzi down the same end. Akram bowled well too conceding only 23 runs in 10 overs in the first final and taking 3-17 in the second. Afridi was voted the man of the finals for his good all-round performance. He had esp. impressive figures of 3-14 in 10 overs in the second final.

niccceee!! Mushtaq, Afridi and Saqlain… that’s one spin powerhouse… let alone the two Ws! :k: - that woulda been some time to be following and enjoying cricket on the screen - unfortunately I only got to do so via the print media.
