Gul has not had a bad day prior to that game. And the ease with which Razzaq was pummelled against NZL, that would have played on Afridi’s mind.

Thy key thing here is that with Misbah, you said he didnt play Hammad for whatever reason. But with Afridi, conspiracy theiroies are believable? Its easier to drop a player when you dont want him to overtake you right?

On field decisions backfire at times and Gul one did too, that day. He let Hafeez bowl, didnt he? Hafeez is a competition too. Afridi is not an astute captain we all agree. But he trusted Gul more than he trusted Razzaq. And Gul was in prime form. Had a bad day.. Thats it.

still doesn’t answer the question. Look at the whole tournament and see how he treated Razzaq. I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but when a pattern emerges I am not prepared to ignore it either.
