Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Waleed what is after the Irish odis? I don't see anything coming up for Pakistan?

these 2 odis are probably going to be lame exercises for the pak team which may just get smacked from both ends by the irish...

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Well i have heard that Pak will be playing Against Zimbabwe and Srilanka later this year…But but ICC hasnt announced the dates and venue dont know why i checked the FTP 2011 sheet and there was no Match of Pakistan after Ireland series

I wonder why ?

thats what i got on PCB’s Site
http://www.pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Series/Future_series.html

kiya zamana agaya hai Zim ke sath test series

And speaking about Ireland series …its gona be a tough one for sure coz Ireland gona prepare Green top pitches and u know on green pitches and our batting :@:

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

yeah that's ok...Irish won't make spinning wickets and Afridi can't bat these days anyways..so what's the point of him playing there anyways..

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Well PCB is wrong..SL refused to come and play and that series is being stated as a “home” series…so not gonna happen..

also the one in Zimbabwe seems like in August so 3 month drought coming any ways..

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

The Lankan series will be either in Lanka or in UAE

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Due to his father’s illness

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Ideal ODI Team would be:

Imran Nazir
Mohd Hafeez
Asad Shafiq
Shoaib Malik
Umar Akmal
Hammad Azam
Shahid Afridi
Sarfraz Ahmed
Umar Gul
Junaid Khan
Saeed Ajmal

Good attacking players like Nazir...Malik - I am not a fan off - but he's way better in ODI than Younis Khan etc.

Selecting guys like Misbah, Azhar Ali, Tanvir Ahmed is a waste in ODIS.

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

^^ Most likely team:

  • Hafeez
  • the other new guy who made a 100 in his last ODI...what's his name (shehzad something) -Azhar or Younis
  • Asad
  • Misbah
  • Umar
  • Hammad (or
  • Wahab (or Tanvir)
  • Gul
  • Junaid
  • Ajmal (doosra power) or A.Rehman to put the spin on the Irish

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Thats a weak line up for ODIS dont you think? ^^

Younis in ODI's has been pathetic for the last 2 years. Just look at his WC performances if you need a reminder! He was never a ODI player anyway. He should be playing test cricket only.

Azhar Ali - same thing. Test cricket is his forte...he doesent look like a ODI player...why put him in ODI's and put him under preassure?

Misbah is a oldie now....him, Yousef and Younis should stick to test cricket only....if you keep playing 36 year olds in ODIs - you will not get very far.

Wahab is too wayward....Junaid seems to have better control, along with Gul and Hammad that would be a good seam attack till Amir comes back one day...

Ajmal should always play ahead of Rehman in my opinion...he is a match winner...

Nazir has way more shots than Shehzad - plus he gives you fast starts which is what we need....when our openers play test match ODI innings and block - and we lose wickets - the middle order always collapses....guys like Umar Akmal are 20;s-30's players...the kind of guys who will make a quality 20-30 then get out to a harmless delivery and shake their head all the way to the dressing room!

Malik at least puts a price on his wicket...he's a good ODI player and should probably come back as Captain if the senior-egos like Younis and Yousuef are no longer there to cause trouble for him.

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Shahzad n Hafeez Should Open

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Hafeez is not the most reliable opener out there, same goes for Shehzad. Shehzad needs another 1-2 years in the A-team.

Nazir has solid experience now and is very good against fast bowling.

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

He throws his wicket away easily.......he had many chances and he didnt capitalize.....so its time to try new opener now

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Same argument is valid for Hafeez. Hafeez averaged 18 after 50 odd ODI innings., most as an opener.

Nazir is the best fielde rin Pakistan and the most attacking player we have. Its good to have one or two attacking players in the ODI team - along with guys like Shafiq, Malik etc who are accumulators.

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

I said most likely...not what any body here wants...Misbah is here to stay till Chacha jee Butt is chairman...

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

The ideal would be:

Muhammed Hafeez
Imran Nazir
Shoiab Malik
Asad Shafiq
Misbah ul Haq
Saeed Ajmal
Abdur Rehman
Wahab Riaz
Umar Akmal..

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

Re: Pakistan v Ireland - 1st ODI - 2011

11:21am It's stopped raining and a couple of the Pakistan players are out warming up. There is blue sky in the distance so hopefully it will start coming this way. The umpires are out having a look although there is not much action on the field.
Oh no! It has started raining aga
