Pakistan V india - 4th ODI

i dont see a reason why replace Younis Khan. He's playing perfect down at number 5 and so are the rest of the batsman. The only position which raises concern is the other opener position that Afridi occupies.

actually captain1 bhai, I don't think Malik and Afridi are in the same league in any field. Malik is a genuine all-rounder at least the one day level where Afridi is Afridi.

I also don't see the comparison between Afridi and Malik's fielding. Malik is miles ahead of Affers as a fielder. Affers is just naturally athletic, so he often half stops the ball and is generally a good catcher but is not a much better fielder than say Younis Khan. Malik, on the hand, affects direct hits more often than not - a sign of a different league of fielding.

Yes, Shoaib Malik's technique as a batsman is not that geat but he is a full fledged batsman whereas Affers is just a pinchhitter who might come off on dead pitches but will fail us on any decent pitch.

The summary of what I'm saying is that Malik is a natural talent who must be nurtured and turned into a world beater. And Affers is just a utility player who should be brought in when needed and made to sit out when not.

Sam Bhai, I agree on the part that Malik is a genuinue all-rounder and is way better than Afridi, but I think no one beats Afridi in the whole Pakistani team when it comes to fielding. Malik is good, but not as consistent as Afridi. Afridi has by far been the best fielder on the Pakistani side whenever he has been in the team. Yes, Hafeez and Nazir have taken spectacular catches, but have also dropped sitters. I have never witnessed Afridi drop a sitter. Even in the 3rd ODI, 2 catches were already dropped when Afridi caught Sehwag, he made a diffucult catch look easy. Afridi may be not as good as malik in bowling or batting, but in fielding, Afridi is the most superior :)

my team for the 4th ODI....

taufeeq
yasir
younis
youhana
inzamam
razzaq
malik
moin
shoaib
sami
shabir

taufiq/yasir can give us the 6th bowler requirement....
not to forget younis can drop in an over of part-time leg spinners too....
but having our faith restored in razzaq's bowling, i dont think we need to be on a look-out for a 6th bowler....
how many overs did afridi bowl in the 3rd odi anyway....

well the 2nd lahore match, ill be seeing the 1st innings on the big screen at school...the head master of my school agreed to allow us a to see the match in the sports hall wit a projector and ****...it was surpising cuz hes a gora and so r all the otha teachers...but as all the students in my skool ar desis...well most of em...esp in yr 11...so he cant be blamed...also saw tha peshawar game on a big screen projector...maybe 80 ppl were der...all students..pakis and indians...and there was much flag wavin and naray baazi...maybe on each run and dot ball...lol...but wen inzi and yasir got out in quick succession...we fell silent fer quite a wile...jus like they did wen shabbir ran riot thru the indians at the beginning and we wer like "bolti band bolti band" ...lol and "shabbir terah baap"...and other such slogans...good fun...its fun watrchin the matches here in jeddah

:insha: well wrap up the series on sunday…ya its a d/n game…startin 12 pm jeddah timeso thats 9 am GMT…

i think the side shud be unchanged from peshawar…as the razzler can sumtimes be a liability wen hes bowlin—and well yonis khan shudnt be dropped…he was very good at peshawar and was unlucky to be out when he was!!!and inzi was nevah out! i sware and they used to accuse our pakistani umpires of bias…they seem more aniti-pak to me!!!:mad2:

that hit inzi miles outside leg…:smack2:

in the previous post i sed it hit inz outside leg...well i meant it hit him outside off...soz ppl....and ya...it was missin the stumps by miles as the replay showed!!

Catches win matches. They dropped 4 catches in the last match. I don't think Yasir should be fielding at slip.

ive seen ppl in these forums refer to the following as bowlers / part time bowlers;

inzi
yasir
farhat
younis khan

cmon ppl get real...do u want the indians tro be the first team to make 400? and that too agianst us?

dont u remember wen younis khan got smasehd for 26 in 1 over in a test match by craig mcmillan...and he doesnt com newer near the indians in batting...and yasir was used at karachi cuz inzi was gettin desperate

and at the wc against aussie...we had younis bowl 6/7 overs and did ya see wat happened?? from like 80/4 they went on to 310!!!

ppl plz leev the batsmen to do the batting and the bowlers and all rounders to do the bowlin...bits and peices players dont get u anywhere especially in test matches...and in ODI's razzlers bowlin form seems to hav upset the teams balance...lets jus pray he gets back into form so that we can go in wit more specialist batsmen...and not an xtra bits and peices allrounder...ya if we can com up wit sum1 like kallis or imran khan...then ya...an allrounders kool...but other than that, they should be kept at a minimum and should only play in ODI's...i seriusly dunno wat shobbi maks doin in tests...he shud stick to ODI's and saq should be allowed to regain form and we should stick wit him...a player being dropped repatedely wont get ne confidence...like after plahin 1 test after such a long time (multan test against bangladesh--saqi was playin after almost a yr)...1 shud not judge after jus 1 game...ne playah on a comback needs more time...saqi shudav played in a few more tests b4 being judged...see how damien martyn justified the slectors faith in him by comin up wit the gudz in sri lanka !!

and hav we forgotten about UMAR GUL???? i reckon hed be gud bowler...instead we go fer the unprooven likes of rana naved ul hassan and rao iftikar--->guls had sum gud performances...like 5/19 against bangladesh...ok bd suck...no pun intended...but still...its gud fer a newcomer...and neways...bangladesh aint that bad...i mean we almost lost a test too them if it wernt fer inzi!!!!

all rounders to do the bowling only :konfused:

Pakistan v India, 4th ODI, Lahore - India under pressure

Anand Vasu in Lahore

Shabbir Ahmed’s hard work, Yasir Hameed’s determination and Abdul Razzaq’s big heart combined at a crucial time to give Pakistan the edge in this five-match one-day series. The trio turned in sterling performances to put Pakistan 2-1 up, leaving India under extra pressure in the fourth one-dayer at Lahore (which starts at 0900 GMT on Sunday).

This series, like most modern limited-overs tournaments or series, has been underscored by the amount players have had to travel in a short span of time.Between March 11 and 24 - just 13 days - India will have played six matches in four cities. Now, though, it’s crunch time, and both teams settle down in Lahore for two day-night clashes.

In the warm-up match here against Pakistan A, the Indians got a taste of what was in store. On a flat pitch, they piled on a massive 335, only to see it easily overhauled by some brash youngsters. This time around, though, they go to Lahore in a much better frame of mind. At Peshawar the bowlers got some much-needed respite from the monotonous thrashing of earlier matches.

Zaheer Khan, who started the series as India’s spearhead but quickly became a liability, is rediscovering the rhythm that brought him so much success at home and away. Irfan Pathan showed he was not overawed by the big occasion. And Lakshmipathy Balaji, after beginning well and then fading a touch, rediscovered his line and length.

**What’s more, Balaji has contributed with the bat on the two occasions he has been called to do so. His 21 from 12 balls at Peshawar included a flicked six that landed in the press box, and prompted John Wright, the coach, to say he was “more than pleasantly surprised” by Balaji’s batting. ** [this guy worries me]

Murali Kartik has not had the best time of it of late, and was replaced by Ramesh Powar, who is yet to take a backward step. Amit Bhandari’s arrival in Lahore gives the team an extra option they’re unlikely to exercise immediately.

Most batsmen in the top order have runs under their belts. Sourav Ganguly has twice looked good for big scores and thrown it away. VVS Laxman is back in business, and was unlucky to be given out lbw at Rawalpindi. Mohammad Kaif is yet to show the form that makes him India’s preferred No. 7 batsman, but the team has adequate cover in Hemang Badani.

Pakistan have it a touch easier than the Indians at this stage. Their bowlers are firing on all cylinders. Shoaib Akhtar has bowled far better than his figures indicate. Shabbir Ahmed’s return to the team, and wicket-taking form, has given Pakistan the luxury of bowling Mohammad Sami at first change. Sami is far more comfortable bowling with an older ball, and is lethal when he gets it right.

Before the tour started, Pakistan’s major worry was their batting. So far, though, things have gone well in that department. Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana, the captain and vice-captain, have shown the way, but the others have picked up the gauntlet magnificently. Hameed has provided the solidity up the order that allows Pakistan to unleash Shahid Afridi on hapless bowlers.

In Peshawar, Razzaq showed that he still believed in himself enough to change the course of a match. Every time India threatened to crawl their way back into the match, Razzaq stamped on them.

This series has provided three close finishes so far, and for it to remain alive to the end, India must win this fourth one-dayer. History does not favour the Indians - they have never won at Lahore - but, Ganguly insists he has no interest in reading about history. He is more concerned with rewriting it.

Pakistan (probable): 1 Shahid Afridi, 2 Yasir Hameed, 3 Yousuf Youhana, 4 Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), 5 Younis Khan, 6 Abdul Razzaq, 7 Moin Khan (wk), 8 Shoaib Malik, 9 Shoaib Akhtar, 10 Mohammad Sami, 11 Shabbir Ahmed.

India (probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 VVS Laxman, 4 Sourav Ganguly (capt), 5 Rahul Dravid (wk), 6 Yuvraj Singh, 7 Mohammad Kaif, 8 Ramesh Powar, 9 Irfan Pathan, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Lakshmipathy Balaji.

In the interest of Indo-Pak peace building I am hereby warning the Pakistan cricket team espcially Inzy, Youhana, Yassir and to a certain extent Afridi, Shoab, Sami - either don't play or if you have to play, don't win. Our Indian players, though capable of winning, are too shy to win by themselves.

And a friendly warning about the toss too.

The current team is a winning team, Why change anything when we are wining at the moment. Afrdi and shoaib malik should stay in the team , they give the captain and the team some extra choice.

I also feel that this wicked will be a flat one so afrdi should get some more runs under his belt,

I also feel that the pakistani bowlers have improved with every match, so lets see whats in store for us in lahore.

Inshallah Pakistan will win!

:insha:

as gd a form as taufiq is in, unfortunately there isnt any place for him. younis is playing very confidently and he shd be kept. afridi shd also play as we will need a 6th bowler in lahore.

ganguly says there is a bit of grass on the pitch. i wouldnt mind bowling first n using it, altho because its a day/nite game there wont be any moisture left in the pitch.

.. n yeah lahore is probably the best stadium in pakistan, but i dont know how it is better then the national stadium. NSK used to be the premiere stadium in pakistan, but it has been devalued alot in last few yrs. btw who owns it, who owns it: the pcb or some locals?

Is it at 2100 EST tonight guys ?

yea plz some1 post the time!!

After playing brilliantly in the first game, I can’t believe some people already want to kick Afridi out of the team for one bad game  I don’t know why some people want to change a team which has won us 2 matches.

The pitch in Peshawar was a pitch for bowlers, and Razzaq, who is capable of swinging the bowl around on this kind of a pitch, made the most of it. But on a flat pitch with no movement, I still reckon his bowling will get hammered how it did in the first 2 ODI’s. Therefore, we need a solid sixth bowling option, no one like Yasir or Younis, who will get smashed even more.

I believe, as long as a certain team is producing wins, there is no need to change it. It is definite the current Pakistani team is getting along really well, even if a couple players don’t perform, couple others step up.

Watch a video **clip ** Pak vs SA…

is it a day night match ?

^yes.
