Might as well have this up as a sticky…its gonna be the main talking point over the next few weeks…
Anyway…just a point of discussion…Do guppies support the speculation that Mushtaq Ahmed should be bought back into the team?..and does this two spin attack sound like a good idea to you?..
I think we have to bring Mushy in.. the main reason is England is weak against spinners (example Shane Warne).. but then again nor Mushy or Kaneria are in the same league as Warne.. but if they can contribute even half of warne's heroics(together).. we do have a very good chance..
In my opinion, Pakistan's best bet would be wickets that will support spinners from day 2.. English players are weak against spin and they don't have any good spinners in their team.. Giles can stop the run flow, but he doesn't have the ability to take lots of wickets in an innings...
so 2 spinners, 2 fast bowlers, and 3 support bowlers, should be able to bowl out england..
Bringing Mushtaq Ahmed back is a step backwards. Let's bring in an unseen genuine pacer. Hopefully Akhtar, Sami and Kaneria can do what is required of them.
^ Exactly, we need new blood. By the way, all this speculation about our bowling is pretty useless, it's obvious that our batting is our main concern. If we don't post big enough scores, and continue with those predictable collapses, doesn't matter what bowlers are playing......
Mushtaq is a quality spinner...he has been impressive for many years when he was in Pakistan team and his record in county cricket speaks for itself. Shane Warne is old, Murli is getting old why don't they bring new blood for them because new blood doesn't equal talent....he won't be Mushtaq. Look what happened to Saqlain. Mushy will be a great assest and he along with Kaneria can really put England batsmen to spin.
I would add Gul to that list cuz none of our pace bowlers stay consistant to their line and length as compare to Gul and I think that is going to be one big factor.
I don’t know about Shoaib he is always a suspicious bowler. He maybe able to bowl 20 or he may just bowl 10 and break up. On the other hand Sami can bowl 25+ but than the guy is so unlucky am not sure if his luck is still following him or not but along with that he some times loses concentration and gets hit all over. Gul is so consistent on the off side (like McGrath) and can bowl 25+ overs (young blood with a working head on his shoulder unlike Shoaib). Apart from that England has not yet faced him so he might get some advantage for that.
And I hope over and over and over that PCB does not consider Shabir for this series and let him sit out.
As per Khan Sahib comments…
**Pakistan, Imran said, could match England’s attack if they had fit bowlers but their batsmen need to improve their form. “They need a fully fit Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul and an in-form legspinner, Danish Kaneria. But for me the concern will be Pakistan’s batting.” **
