Brilliant 218 by Younis Khan, his 6th test double ton
See what a difference it makes when you make the most of a good position. That did not happen at Edgbaston
Should be able to force a win from here. Yasir Shah should come into the equation when England finally bat
The Oval has always been a favourite ground for Pakistan. Our second highest test score of 708 is at The oval (1987). Miandad made 260 and like Younis he was out LBW
I see Pakistanies are over joyous and jumping with a mere lead of 200 runs...behold! This lead will vanish in thin air like horns from the head of a donkey...

what a pathetic DRS review by umpires, Ballance not given out, there was no bat contact with ball but ball was hitting full-on leg and middle still given not out citing 'long stride'.

Currently Eng 65/3
Yep. Keep going 3 down . 4 one was almost done by yasir but the 2.5 m rule saved him

I have maintained that there needs to be more diversity among umpires. England and Australia always have the advantage. Close decisions go to them. And decisions such as this which are not even close also end up in their favor.
Where Is phoenixdesi. He seems to think thus does not happen.

Southie, diversity will not work as most neutral brown/black umpires (call it inferiority complex or just a simple desire to hold onto their elite positions) would still give the benefit of the doubt to gora players in most (if not all) cases of marginal decisions.
The best and only way to overcome this tendency is to increase the number of reviews per test innings (reviews reset after every 80 overs of an innings) from 2 to 4 and in ODIs from a pathetic 1 per innings to at least 3. This will help take some control away from (biased) men in the middle.
Younis Khan was given out LBW by Australian umpire Bruce Oxenford when he was on 132. Hawk-eye had the ball going over the top of the stumps! ... and the decision was reversed.
In a different era Younis would not have been able to get to his double hundred!

Agree GA. Aleem Dhar does a great job.
Also the western commentators have a way of just agreeing with whatever favorable decisions the umps give their side. They say it in such a matter of fact manner that you almost believe them.
When an Australian bowler appeals, it is always a good shout. When Asian bowlers appeal, they are overdoing it.
One pet pet peeve is the umpires call on the field. If the ump is biased, (there is plenty of evidence to suggest he is) he can make that close call inevitably go one way. And his call stands. And the appealing team loses its appeal and gets debited one appeal. If technology is good, then don't go with ump call. This will even the field (even if technology is bad). No more chance for call on the field to DICTATE the outcome in close decisions. And do not debit losing team when they lose the close call just because call on field went against them.
It is not just the outs and decisions that affect outcome. The western bowler can bowl more confidently, more aggressively, knowing he will get that clos call. The Asian batsman is more diffident which affects his confidence. Same true for western batsman and Asian bowler.

I am always here uncle jee!
sometime quiet, sometime loud..
and the third umpire is not even white in this case...sounds West indian. and he just followed the law. from what i know, there is an element of stride in picture now
when anderson was banned from bowling for running on pitch in the 3rd test match (on a very very close call and i called it unfair), your response was: i did not see it (well why dont you see it first uncle) but from what i heard, he kept on running on pitch and umpires followed the law
well guess what, in this case umpires followed the law too. the batsman was 2.65m from the wicket and the ball traveled less than 40cm before hitting balance, so not-out decision given by the on-field umpire stands. that is all
i do not like to cry white-brown issue too much. we browns are one of the most racist people in the world. just look at our societies.

do you fully understand the LBW law under DRSW? and if you do, do you actually believe that law was not fully followed in balance case and he shd have been given out? or is it your feeling that a whitiee got the upper hand in that decision?

.
WRONG and completely disagree.
heard every word of Englishmen in this series...all of them 200% balanced. artherton, gower, nasir hussain, even botham, warnie all of them very very fair and balanced. supported pakistani team performance many time throughout the series. they yelled at their team too. they criticized alex hales on his behavior yesterday.
yes, there are some biased western commentators but majoirty are fair. we are biased too. when westerns toured us, we hammered them with so many horrible decisions. it happens but not it is much batter.
increase your level of performance instead of being cry babies. blackies of 70s and 80s from WI did not need anyone's help.. they just DID IT.
The Windies of 70s and early 80s were too powerful. Not everyone is that powerful. In a game of micrometers, the inches keep going one way, Sri Phoenixdesi.
