I have maintained that there needs to be more diversity among umpires. England and Australia always have the advantage. Close decisions go to them. And decisions such as this which are not even close also end up in their favor.

Southie, diversity will not work as most neutral brown/black umpires (call it inferiority complex or just a simple desire to hold onto their elite positions) would still give the benefit of the doubt to gora players in most (if not all) cases of marginal decisions.

The best and only way to overcome this tendency is to increase the number of reviews per test innings (reviews reset after every 80 overs of an innings) from 2 to 4 and in ODIs from a pathetic 1 per innings to at least 3. This will help take some control away from (biased) men in the middle.
