If anything we need more impact players like Sharjeel
In order to be consistently good in the ODIs, you need 1 or 2 solid/technically sound batsmen and 3 or 4 impact or explosive players in your top 6.
As for technically sound batsmen we have Babar Azam (give him more time), India have Kohli, England have Root, NZ have Kane Williamson, Aus have Steve Smith, SA have Amla, WI have Marlon Samuels
As for explosive players we have only Sharjeel (yes he’s a leg side hack but he can also put the opposition on the backfoot with his explosive hitting), India have Rohit, Yuvraj and Dhawan etc., Australia have Finch, Warner, Faulkner and Maxwell etc. England have Hales, Eoin Morgan and Buttler etc. NZ have Guptill, McCullum and Corey Anderson, SA have Quinton de Kock, De Villiers, David Miller and Du Plessis. Windies have Gayle and Darren Sammy (currently out of favour with the board)
Good impact or explosive players will always be hit or miss (but less so than Afridi!) because of the high risk nature of their game. Look at Hales, Finch, Corey and Gayle.

Not everyone can be both explosive (and consistent) like Viv or Gilchrist
**And I was against Azhar playing odis let alone captaining the side from day 1. His game is just not suited to ODIs.
