Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

^ who is quesetioning Shoaib Akhtar’s place Rainy? :konfused:

who is M Raza? details?

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Where have u been for the last one year? Afridi’s performance down the order has been excellent which deserves definite consideration

Based on what? His previous test match outings were not so impressive or some wud say below average.

On which occassions? This was Maliks second stint as a test match opener, so which moments are u talkin about?

Mohammed Raza? Who?

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

I would say the PCB will not risk playing Shabbir as he can be no balled for his deliveries. I see Rana coming instead. Rana had a good county season and is no stranger to swing. Malik will continue to play as an opener. Afridi will have to come in at the expense of Hasan Raza.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

by RANA i think u meant MANSOOR

Update: Trescothic staying in Pakistan courtesy of BBC

Haha, I am not surprised. Nothing short of a death of an immediate relative would have persuaded Fletcher and Vaughan to let Tresco go in such a crucial situation.

Merci

That is correct, thanks

Trescothick to stay in Pakistan

England opener Marcus Trescothick has decided to stay with the squad for the three-Test tour of Pakistan.

The 29-year-old had considered flying to England after his father-in-law was seriously injured falling off a ladder.

“The past few days have been very traumatic for my family, and I am naturally extremely concerned for my father-in-law,” said Trescothick.

“Having talked with my family and the England captain and coach, I’ve decided to remain with the squad.”

Trescothick’s father-in-law sustained a serious head injury in the incident, although his condition is now described as stable.

Speaking before the announcement, England captain Michael Vaughan said: "Family becomes more important than cricket in these situations.

“But it would be nice for him to stay and be part of an England team that bounces back.”

Trescothick had discussed his options with the England management before arriving at his final decision on Friday.

England, 1-0 down in the series, start the second Test on Sunday in Faisalabad.
Trescothick, who stood in for injured captain Michael Vaughan, scored 193 in the first innings in Multan.

Vaughan was hopeful he would be fit enough to play, adding: “The knee has made good progress over the last few days.”

England are likely to be without Andrew Strauss for the third Test as he intends to return home for the birth of his first child. The tourists have already brought in batting cover by calling up Essex’s Alastair Cook.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

It will be good to have a full strength English team at Faislabad.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

^ yes, otherwise we would never hear the end of the "depleted side" saga. Already the tight runout chance and the bowling action controversy is giving the Poms plenty to whine about.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

I'm afraid Tresco will not be able to play at his full potential though. But let's see what happens.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Good to hear that.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Any news about razzaq availability for second test ???

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Here is my team for 2nd Test:

  • Salman Butt
  • Shoaib Malik
  • Younus Khan
  • Inzamam
  • M.Yousuf
  • Shahid Afridi
  • Kamran Akmal
  • Rana Naveed
  • Shoaib Akhter
  • M.Sami
  • Danish Kaneria

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Latest reports indicate Pak may not play Shabbir at Faisalabad. That means, Rana will get to play.

Yousuf has recovered from shoulder injury and is fit.

With Malik reported, there is a case for all-rounder Afridi to play in addition to Malik as a batsman only.

So, Shabbir and Raza out
Rana and Afridi in

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

They are doing mistake of leaving out Asim and they might end up paying for it. He is too good a talent to be left out from a test side.Pakistan has a huge issue in middle order right now due to Youhana's form and Afridi is not the fix.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

If Malik can not be used in bowling, i’ll replace him with Asim Kamal. As f&b said he is a good batsmen and right now we need to reduce our tail a bit.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

I honestly think Asim should be an automatic choice for #6 in tests. But these selectors have their own theories.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

This would be my team based on recent developments;

1Butt
2Afridi
3Yunis
4Inzi
5Yoyo
6Asim
7Akmal
8Rana
9Akhter
10Sami
11Kaneria

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

^ Yes it does seem Rana and Afridi are in. Asim is unlucky.

Re: Pakistan V England 2nd Test Match, Faislabad

Good team funguy but Woolmer has his mind set on giving the current opening pair a run through the whole series.
