Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
*Well most of us would have expected a run-fest on this "placid" track, but we've been treated to something more absorbing. The turn with the new ball perhaps surprised both teams and the first two wickets certainly kept everyone interested. Pakistan realised that they had to fight a lot harder after winning the toss. The England seamers also posed questions by getting the ball to nip back in regularly and trouble the batsmen with the odd short delivery. Perhaps we all misread the pitch?
Saeed Ajmal would love to get his hands on the ball. Question is whether England will play him better. Misbah has shown really good application. He was lucky to be let off on 30 though. The day has been as unpredictable as his batting. Two sixes in the last over! Who writes his scripts?
:D

Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
We can call it England's day although a good fight back by Misbah and Asad.
We can tilt the balance a little even by crossing 300 tomorrow. They way Misbah is playing now, it is not impossible to get 300+ score.

Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann each took three wickets as **England took charge of the second Test **against Pakistan on day one in Abu Dhabi
@BBC
Don’t think so dear English Media…!!! ![]()
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
not that bad since Misbah is leading from the crease and gritty ajmal with him...inshallah should get past 300.UAE pitches are not the dull tracks of the past anymore.
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
btw what is up withyk and azhar...one is acting like panda and the other likea bunny, they can't score in even da-bai conditions?

Well played Misbah. WeloveyouTukTuk was trending on twitter when he was on fire :D
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
At 4/103, I feared the worst - that Pak would fold for under 200 runs but thanks to Misbah and Asad there has been a slight recovery.
Hope Misbah and the tailenders can somehow push the score to 325-350 (might be wishful thinking), it w’d make for an exciting contest
Pakistan were probably aiming for a score of around 400 in the 1st innings when they won the toss but all is not lost. The wicket was taking turn even on the 1st day and Pak have three good spinners, they w’d test the English batsmen for sure
5 of the batsmen were bowled today!
Hope Misbah goes on to get his hundred which will be his 4th in tests, he deserves it
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
Fact:
In 14 Tests as captain, Misbah-ul-Haq has batted 22 times, passing 50 on 13 occasions, while he has only been dismissed for less than 20 twice. He now averages 80 with the bat as captain, compared to only 33.60 while he was in the ranks
wonderful stats :k:
Only if he also start rotating the strike instead of long tuk-tuk sessions.
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
In tests, tuk tuk doesn't matter nor i feel rotating strike is necessary. Its better to go for a shot batsman is sure of rather than trying nudges and glides.
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
I think even in tests it should not be just about crease occupation. Scoring runs is just as important because you let the bowlers and fielding side get on top of you otherwise and if you then get out having not added much to the total you put unnecessary pressure on your partner and batsman to follow as well
Azhar Ali's foot work could be better. He often gets stuck on the crease and does not move his feet well which was also his undoing today. He played another lazy shot and was late on a straight ball from Broad
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
Azhar Ali hasn't done particularly well against good attacks.
Re: Pakistan v England 2nd Test - 25-29 January 2012
To be honest Asad has impressed me more. Maybe he could bat at #3 and Umar Akmal at #6
