Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Butt and Farhat also had respectful innings, has it made a difference? side matches are what they are, side matches. Real world of test cricket is very different as we all know.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

I think fielding has lot to do with captaincy and training. Appointing part time fielders is just a news show, if PCB really wants to improve fielding than they must appoint some trainers that will work with the players in getting them active and athletic in the field. Moreover, if we have a captain that will understand the urgency of the game his players will follow the lead. It is combined effort that takes time to utilize it; appointing Jonty was a stupid idea that just backfired.

I am very happy with the idea that Younis Khan should become our captain but there is no need for Inzamam to retire for the process. Pakistan is nothing, and I repeat nothing, without Inzamam. Let the big man have his career, how many 36-year-old batsmen do we know or have known who have played like Inzamam. Just sheer dominance, his antics in the field causes his wicket rather his batting. The transition of captaincy must begin early so that Younis gets the time to be comfortable as a captain before the World Cup.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Malik actually has a spine, he has the courage to fight it out despite his so called limitations. Not play a casual lame shot and start walking back to the pavilion like a sacrificial lamb. He has already played one match saving innings, if you put ALL our so called specialists’ records together, you will not find even one innings of that class. Also, he was involved in plenty of 50+ opening stands.

Remember he has played in only 15 tests, and that too under plenty of scrutiny as most were doubtful of his place in the test side. Unlike our ladla specialists who were given a free backing and were under no pressure for their place in the side. I have said it before, you can have all the “specialist” skills and talent in the world, but they don’t help your team if you’re back in the pavilion after a max of 10 overs.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

I agree. We do need another wicket keeper. How about Faisal Iqbal. I heard (not sure though), he has done it a few times and did a good job.

Malik isn't reliable at all for opening. Number 6 or 7 is more suitable for him. YOu are right, his average is not good at all.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

I,m fed up of this specialist Opener Talk,if any 1 can do the job ,let it be,Remember Majid khan was a tailender when he started his Test career,Sehwag,Anwar,Sohail and many others ,they all were middle order batsmen ,when they started their First Class careers.I don,t want mediocer SPECIALIST Openers like Ramiz Raja.2 100s in 600 matches, huh

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Ramiz was good, what u talking about!

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Look at his record first,he never won a test match.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

u jus jealous of his sexy mostache and hair.

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

Ramiz was a good opener in ODI but his test record is pretty modest

Re: Pakistan V England 2006 Test Series: The Positives

I think Ramiz was a good gentleman (educated) in the team but by no mean a very good player. In test he was ok, but in ODIs, his batting was negated by his poor fielding. To me it seems like Butt is same fielder as Ramiz in his days.
