Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
not sure how to feel optimistic about team Pakistan. it is natural to feel pessimistic, and not about this lot only, about any Pakistani team as they are mentally weak when put in survival mode. this lot is in particular pathetic as this is probably 7th collapse in last 6 months where team lost 10 wickets in less than 2 complete sessions
so yes, I do feel pessimistic and it is about time every pakistani skipper staregize around this pessimism that his pathetic team may not survive even 40 overs on last day no matter how good the pitch is
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
my summay
Misbah has done great all over the years, thankful to him. He gets the team to gel well together but his tactical awareness is pathetic which is also why he must retire. He has been tactically exposed so badly in nz and Aus. it was embarrassing to watch him here in 2nd test match. he was just changing field every over, every ball. he was very defensive as well. I just feel sorry for him. He lost 3-0 in south africa. probably will lose 3-0 in Australia. lost 2-0 in NZ. so other than england, his team could not do much either outside asia. that is where imran is far far far better captain than him. Misbah kept the team together but tactically not so good
top order is a disaster…5 out of tp 7 not scoring. sami, babar, younis, misbah and sarfraz. that is a plain fact. surprisingly, our lower order did well and we saw fake resurgence in our scores but you need your top order to fire. period
but i still maintain that our bowling made us lose this match. pathetic bowlers. never looked threatening. Sohail khan is below average..too slow. yasir could not adapt to austrlia at all. he helped us winning in UK otherwise we would have lost 4-0 there as well. wahab shd be kicked out long time ago. does not know his run up after years, I said it many times.
Misbah needs to leave aftert his series…Younis has to stay now for a bit more just to have a father figure and then retire
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
My summary
Ian Gould gave two marginal decisions - both LBWS against Babar and Azhar.
If even one of them were in Pakistan’s favir, the match is a draw.
As stated time and again, we need more diversity in umpiring. Ian Gould may he a great umpire. But you can count on his marginal decisions go in Australia or England way when playing against subcontinent.
Can someone explain this to phoenixdesi
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
Well the Babar decision was also marginal. And same Gould gave him out.
Open your eyes, young phoenixdesi. There was an article in espncricinfo which stated that Aussie bowlers had the best “shouts”. Their shouts earned the best decisions from umpires.
All Shouts Matter.
It is not White vs Brown. It is stating facts. And stats.
We need more diversity among umpires. Do yiu have an issue with that statement also?
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
List of recent painful collapses
Hobart 1999
Sydney 2010
Galle 2014
Edgbaston 2016
Hamilton 2016
Melbourne 2016
The problem seems to exist across generations!
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
you are entitled to your opinion. i watched azhar dismissal live and my immediate reaction was that he looks out. the ball hit him on 3/4 height of pad and he was in front. if I was standing there as an umpire, i would have given him out.
anyway, i dont like to hide behind umpires when a team loses especially in technology days. aussies would have got these wickets in any case. we were playing so sheepishly.

I stopped reading after this
ROFL
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
So is there going to be white wash??? Since we got one in NZ…why not here???
After all Aussies need something after what South Africans did to them
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
It is easy to ask for the old guard to go after such a disappointing loss but is there really anyone in the domestic circuit who can ably replace one of them let alone both?
Young blood is without a doubt the way to go but we have also just seen the best of our young talent in Sami Aslam and Babar Azam fail miserably in Australia.
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
not a complete list by asif bhai. let me add more collapses so that people can understand full picture
Hobart 1999
Sydney 2010
Dubai , 2013 (against SA, out for 99)
Johannesburg, 2013 (out for 49)
Capetown, 2013 (sudden collapse for 169)
Centurion 2013 (out for 156)
Galle 2014
Edgbaston 2016
Dubai 2016 (against WI out for 131)**
Christ Church 2016 (against NZ out for 133)**
Hamilton, NZ 2016
Brisbane Gabba 2016 (out for 142)
Melbourne 2016 (Pak out for 163)
and there are more in last 6 years but I am tried … hard to trust this batting line up. other teams fail too but our team fail more often all the time out of no where
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
Thanks PD but I was mainly talking about collapses in the 3rd/4th innings (when there is either pressure to chase or to survive)
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
i just noticed that Asif. got it
but i would still add collapse against WI for 131 in 3rd innings for no reason and 169 against south africa in 3rd innings when we were 114 for 3… there might be more.
but overall, you can see from my list that under misbah, we are collapsing a lot more in Ist or second or 3rd or 4th innings. i have not added some more collapses under misbah
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
The thing here which Pakistani team misses is thet still live in 80s test cricket!!! They are more than happy to score at the run-rate of 2.5 per over, whereas, other teamd like to score near to 4 per over…
2ndly, for some odd reason, our batsmen thinks that blocking every ball thrown to them and remain there without scoring is obligatory…
Above two are enough to bring Pak under immemse pressure…
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
i dont track my age but i believe i am around late 20s…isnt this categorized as young?
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
There was an article in espncricinfo recently. The bowlers whose “shouts” are good - most of them are from Australia. Next England.
Those with bad “shouts” were from subcontinent and west indies.
The Aussies are used to having the inches or sometimes even foot given to them. Why 2oukdnt they play with confidence?
Thank you.
Re: Pakistan V Australia 2nd Test Match
Slow scoring rate, i mean this team needs 2 days just to come upto 250 runs or so, its really pathetic. When you’re scoring that low and leaving and blocking every ball just means more and more pressure piling on when wickets fall. Low score and losing wickets quickly makes batting pathetic. This so-called “defensive” mindset is so damn hard to get rid of.
Why is the team paying so much money for these multiple coaches, psychologists, etc when its useless. They come into pressure under ****ty bowling.
Micker, then there’s british Mushtaq darhi walay, then Azhar mahmood, wow how many coaches do they need after these failures?
This team can sometimes win in UAE. Just watch they hold the PSL there too on flat pitches. This “talent” performs well there and then comes into team and then failures start.
Bowlers are simply pathetic. Why is Amir unable to bowl well on seam wickets ?How many wickets he took by lbw or bowled? Seems he can’t bowl good anymore his performance is few wickets these days. At most 1 or 2. Hardly looks threatening, and is “medium pace”. It tells u something when wahab is the fastest of them all, serious shortage of genuine fast bowlers we have now.
Unfortunately we will be stuck with these same mediocre players in coming years, no talent available. Pathetic batting, fielding and bowling.
Don’t expect much in coming WorldCup, we’ll be fighting hard against minnows maybe.
Why couldn’t Pakistan’s bowlers bowl like the way the Aussi bowlers did?
