Well to me the biggest dilemma is, whether Pak should continue batting 3rd day and if so for how long. I wish rain had not interrupted. But it is what it is.
I think they should bat one more hour and try to score as much and as quickly as possible. If they reach 390-400 it should be good to handover them.
Azhar will bat in his normal way but Amer and Wahab should try to hit out and get some quick runs.
Hope I didn’t speak too soon but good to see the tail wagging in this series. Even Sohail can bat a bit. What a difference it makes when your last 4 together can contribute 80-100 runs on a regular basis. Mickey Arthur and Grant Flower should get credit for this.
Could have done better overall but today Azhar and esp. Sohail scored runs at a good rate
443 runs at 3.5 RPO is not bad going at all but with better strike rotation this could have been 4 RPO. That and the catching/out-fielding is where Pak need to improve
Can’t remember the last time Pakistan scored 400 plus in successive innings in Australia
It is certainly not easy to concentrate and bat well with so many rain interruptions
Well-played Azhar for his double hundred
Now up to the bowlers to make something of this match.
Pakistan played 126 overs, which is almost 4 sessions, in straight terms, Pakistan could have declared ( which they did) around lunch on 2nd day instead of 3rd. With only 126 overs bowled, on till 3rd day it is difficult to get result.
Anyway, nice show with the bat by Azhar and the tail, Amir Little knoch of 29 of 27 balls and Suhail Khan’s 65 of 65 balls helped Pakistan alot.. had there been no rain interruption and delays, we may have seen and other sensational match…
Australia 115/1 with 40 more overs to go for the day, an early collapse of Australian team may get Pakistan favorable result…
if you are lucky…otherwise he will be gone by 10 playing some silly shots
i never really liked the guy for some weird reason. gave me wrong vibes. always acts as if he is some bradman or maybe emulating dhonie.
walking to fast bowlers, trying to sweep them sometime, taking crazy runs…oh bhai, play within your limits. you are not a very good wicket keeper dropping at least one catch per match or a stumping chance, so at least bat responsibly
It was Warner who was scoring run a ball, he’s gone, both Khawaja and Smith are scoring slowly. Pak will have to make sure that the scoring rate remains slow during the rest of the innings.
great batting by pakis in the ist innings. so proud of azhar ali. what an innings, what a concentration, dedication, fitness, defense. amazing.
but pathetic bowling by Pak today
if aussies somehow score 550 tomorrow, we are in big trouble due to our mental weakness under pressure and so many recent collapses including hamilton one
the reason we played well in the 2nd innings at gabba was because the team felt it is a lost match for sure, so they didnt have any pressure. put them under survival pressure and they will start crumbling.
we have to restrict the scoring rate tomorrow. cant bowl like today. it was pathetic.
yasir is such disappointment. yes misbah has not given him a good field placing but hey i am talking about his bowling ammunition. to be honest, outside UAE, he looks pretty ordinary, no googly, no spin, no variation. all he used to have was immense control but that is gone too. he is bowling way too many full tosses, half volleys.
i love the man. what an energy, what an attitude, always smiling, always refreshing. we want him to succeed but i am afraid he may not be as good as we thought. barring few performances in england, he has failed outside UAE. if usman khawaja who is so weak against spin scores 55 of 55 balls against yasir, then you know how pathetic yasir is bowling
and yes Pakistanis got offended, but swan was spot on when he said yasir is bowling garbage. it was pure garbage. you could have put all 10 fielders on the offside for no use when yasir jee would keep producing those garbage full tosses and half volleys
and now on misbah. the man has lost it strategically. very poor and disappointing. i have always supported misbah but when someone fails strategically, it is hard to support
the way he has utilized yasir says it all . This stupid legside tactic failed miserably in the first test and he did not learn the lesson.
yes yasir is bolwing garbage but maybe because misbah has finished his confidence Yasir started well in his first spell but against two left-handers, and with almost all your fielders located on the legside and a wide open space on the off-side, his margin for error of bowling around the wicket is too small to bowl consistently tight and be threatening. Misbah didnt even have a bat pad on the off after taking a wicket. You need these types of fields to put pressure
