every country has a cricket culture and Pakistani cricket culture is always driven by heroes. they always needed some mercurial players. this poor team is so blah. and there is not much on bench. i have followed Pakistan first class closely in last few months. it is simply pathetic. most of the batsmen have average less than 40. cricket is a dying sport in paksitan like every other sport.

he is too inexperienced and does not have those kind of performances behind him to demand team’s respect. every team has a culture and in our culture, young players are not accepted easily. even minadad was kicked out when he was made skipper young.
plus wasim akram was saying today that imad fitness is not good and he has put some weight. did not perform well either lately

too many parchi’s in the team which unless kicked out permanently, will not be good.
just like other sports the cricket is also now showing signs of dying in pakistan, this is thanks to corruption, mismanagement, when u got stupid people in charge of things, even those that never played professional cricket. The most pathetic thing is that nobody does anything about it. The same stupid and inefficient people are always in charge and always employed by pcb. Changing 1 or 2 people for show does nothing at all.
The team is stuck in 90’s when they thought they can bowl the other team out for less thn 200. Nowadays teams score fast, and go above 300 regularly. For pakistan its a special occasion when they can cross 300 on UAE pitches. With this current team, even playing and trying to qualify for WC is going to be a real uphill task, probably we should prepare NOT to expect pak team in 2019, just like how our hocket team is not playing anything. the only thing left is the funding cut remaining in cricket…once that goes it will be same as hockey team, the so-called national sport.
I’m glad they made Hafeez captain again, the guy can’t be embarrassed or shamed enough, and keeps getting selected on pathetic performances, just bcaz he got his action cleared. How effin stupid can this board get. Inzi i guess knows nothng other than keeping a beard. Stupid man

not expressed in a polished way, but not a bad summary.
cricket has simply died in Pakistan and I am saying this for years. all the signs are there. just go lahore and drive around defense, model town, iqbal town,gulburg, muslim town. Go Faisalabad and drive around D ground and the list goes on. Go islabanad or pindi parks. No one is playing cricket in those parks where thousands of kids used to play cricket every evening. they are empty.
school and college cricket is finished as well. under 16, under 19 is a joke with corruption and nepotism prevailing. so what you have in the system now is really not good enough. plus Pakistani team has to be the most boring teams in the world. no star nothing. so the younger generation has no passion. one full generation started to bowl fast after seeing imran khan and then Wasim, waqar and shoaib. now we have wahab and rahat ali and you just want to vomit seeing these jokers.
My prediction is that after younis and misbah we will start losing big in UAE as well and that will be the last nail in the coffin. Look at India. Virat is a giant both as a player and as a leader. he creates so much passion and is transforming indian team. I know a lot more about indian players than our cricket team because our players are pathetically boring with no talent. Pakistani kids idolize virat, dhoni, tandulkar, dravid, laxman. Virat is new sensation in Pakistan.

One more key point …i am not saying all of this just because Pakistan is losing abroad. I had same comments even when they drew 2-2 in england. i am just reflecting upon fundamentals of Pakistan cricket in general. overall cricket has died in Pakistan and soon England, india, sri lanka, south africa will beat us heavily in our own home ground as well. I mean WI has just beaten us a test match in UAE. just a start.
history tells us that when a certain sport died in Pakistan it neve came back. First squash, then hockey and now cricket.

sarkar, bangaldesh has scored 600 runs on the same wicket in NZ where our mahan batters were dancing around few weeks ago!

i dont even want to start on mhd hafeez and his appointment as captain…my whole weekend will be wasted otherwise. now let me be clear. he is a a better skipper strategically than azhar but on merit, hafeez does not even deserve to be in the team let alone captain. he has not performed anything good in first class recently. if they do want to go back to oldies, then yes kamran akmal has performed unbelievably well in this season. why not select him? why select hafeez and that idiot umar akmal. umar has been doing really bad recently in first class.

Granted that I have lost interest partly because of being out of Pakistan (who has time for 6-7 hour games in a different time zone) but majorly because of sifarishi culture of PCB. I think that it is the later that is probably destroying Pakistan’s sports culture. I think that even imran won’t be able to ‘fix’ this culture as he alluded to in his recent bhawalpur rally.
