I hope so. We need action not words from Nawaz. Kill those that are fighting with guns and those that preach hatred in mosques and madrasahs. Start with this bast#ard in laal masjid. Hang him outside the masjid to send a lesson to others. Turn the jaamiah hafsa in a real school for women.

Turn all madrasah into real schools. We need more doctors and engineers not more mullahs like Abdul Aziz. Is Nawaz Sharif capable to say and do this? Anything less will not cut it.

اسلام آباد…وزیراعظم نوازشریف نےکہا ہے کہ دہشت گردوں کوقوم کافیصلہ سنارہاہوں کہ اب ان کے دن گنے جاچکے ہیں۔ انہوں نے آج رات 12بجکر 20منٹ پر قوم سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے مزید کہا کہ میں ایسے موقع پر مخاطب ہوں جب پشاور سانحے نے قوم کو ہلا دیا ہے، سفاک قاتلوں نے عوام کےسینوں پرگہرازخم لگایا ہے، ہر پاکستانی کا دل خون کے آنسو رو رہا ہے، معصوم بچےعلم کی لگن سے گھروں سے نکلے اور اُنہیں خون سے نہلا دیا گیا، بچوں کی آنکھوں میں نہ جانےکتنے خواب سجے تھے، ایک بات ہونے کے ناتے احساس ہے کہ والدین اپنے بچوں کی سلامتی کی دعائیں مانگتے ہیں، والدین کے وہم وگمان میں بھی نہیں ہوتا کہ اپنے بچوں کے جنازے کو کندھا دینا ہوگا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ 6سال کی بچی خولہ میری بیٹی تھی جو ٹیسٹ دینے گئی اور واپس نہیں آئی، حذیفہ بھی میرا بیٹا تھا جو ناشتے کے بغیر گھر سے نکلا اور واپس نہیں آیا، پوری دنیا بچوں کے والدین کے غم میںٕ برابر کی شریک ہے، حکومت نے اقتدار سنبھالتے ہی دہشت گردی کے مسئلے کو سنجیدگی سے لیا، مذاکرات بے نتیجہ ہونے کے بعد آپریشن ضرب عضب کا آغاز کیا گیا، آپریشن ضرب ِعضب نے کاری ضرب لگائی اور دہشت گرد وحشیانہ کارروائیوں پر اتر آئے، ہم نے دہشت گردی میں ملوث سزا یافتہ قیدیوں کی سزا پر عملدرآمد کا سلسلہ شروع کیا ہے۔ وزیر اعظم نوازشریف نے کہا کہ پارلیمانی جماعتوں کے اجلاس میں متفقہ طور پر طے کیا گیا ہے کہ جو خصوصی عدالتیں قائم ہوں گی ان کی مدت 2سال ہوگی، نیکٹا کو فعال بنایا جا رہا ہے، پاکستان بھرمیں مسلح جتھوں کی اجازت نہیں ہوگی، کالعدم تنظیموں کو دوسرے نام سے کام کرنے کی اجازت نہیں ہوگی، دہشت گردوں اور دہشت گرد تنظیموں کی فنڈنگ کے تمام وسائل ختم کیے جائیں گے، اقلتیوں کے تحفظ کو یقین بنایا جا رہا ہے،دینی مدارس کی رجسٹریشن اورضابطہ بندی کااہتمام کیاجارہاہے، پرنٹ اور الیکٹرانک میڈیا پر دہشت گردوں کی تشہیر پر مکمل پابندی ہوگی، انٹرنیٹ اور سوشل میڈیا پر دہشتگردی کے اختتام کے لیے فوری اقدامات کیے جا رہے ہیں، ملک کے ہر حصے میں انتہاپسندی کی کوئی گنجائش نہیں چھوڑی جائے گی، کراچی میں جاری آپریشن کو منطقی انجام تک پہنچایا جائے گا، تمام اسٹیک ہولڈرز کی طرف سے حکومت بلوچستان کو مکمل اختیار دیا جا رہا ہے، افغان مہاجرین کی رجسٹریشن سے متعلق جامع پالیسی تشکیل دی جارہی ہے۔ وزیر اعظم کا کہنا تھا کہ ایک طرف بزدل دہشت گرد اور دوسری طرف قوم کھڑی ہے، کل کا پاکستان بہت پُرسکون پاکستان ہوگا، ہماری آئندہ نسلیں پاکستان میں سکون کی زندگی گزاریں گی، قائداعظم کے پاکستان کو ان کے وژن کی طرح بنایا جا رہا ہے، تمام قیادت کوکریڈٹ جاتا ہے، فوج کا بھی ایک کلیدی کردار ہے، دہشت گردوں نے جو درد دیا ہے اس کا منہ توڑ جواب دیا جائے گا، پاکستان اپنی سرزمین کسی کو استعمال نہیں کرنے دے گا،بطور وزیراعظم دہشت گردی کیخلاف جنگ کی قیادت کرنا میری ذمےداری ہے، دہشت گردوں کوقوم کافیصلہ سنارہاہوں کہ اب تمھارےدن گنےجاچکےہیں۔

A group supports Taliban's actions.
Another group justifies target killing of Shias. Yet another group supports target killing of Mohajirs in Karachi , Hyderabad and Sukkhar. There is another group which justifies target killing of Punjabies and Pathans in Karachi , Hyderabad and Sukkhar.
And the list goes on and on.

The speech doesn't cover ethnic issues but rest you mentioned has been addressed , and it was a national agenda , Not only PM's .

I will repeat the only option is to invade tribal area and annex it to Pakistan as part of KPK and build a wall on Pak-Afghan border there is no other option. For more than a decade we have seen that nothing is helping to cub this senseless violence.

Saw a translation listing 20 points which taken at face value seem broad and deep. Some body thought through this and our hope and prayers that this plan gets executed with good will. Well done and good start.
There will always be scope for improvement and adjustment - for example major path breaking measures such as these work better when people can visualize these as the responsibility of a leader, a czar type. Has that been named? It could be a cabinet minister ably seconded by the COAS or his designee. I think that is actually quite necessary.

And, religious extremism will be stemmed. 10. The religious seminaries will be registered and regularized. 11. Complete ban on publicity of terrorists and their ideology on print and electronic media. 12. The repatriation of the IDPs will be expedited with administrative and development reforms on the way in FATA. 13. Communication networks of terrorist organizations will be uprooted. 14. Actions are being undertaken to stop the promotion of terrorism on social media and internet. 15. Zero-tolerance policy for extremism across Pakistan. 16. Karachi operation will be taken to its logical end. **17. Balochistan government is being fully empowered by all stakeholders for broader political reconciliation. **18. Decisive action is being undertaken against the elements stoking sectarianism in the country. 19. With the registration of Afghan refugees, an exhaustive policy is being formulated for them. 20. Fundamental reforms are being expedited in criminal judicial system to allow more access of provincial intelligence agencies to the communication networks of terrorists and to further strengthen the anti-terrorism institutions.

I think it took time for political leaders and COAS to convince JI and MMA to agree on speedy trial of terror suspects by military courts. No surprise the idea was initially rejected by both.
A good speech nevertheless which covered core issues relating to terrorism and extremism. A much needed political and military consensus. But words are not enough. It is time for action now. The government's sincerity will be gauged by their actions on the ground over the coming days. Harsh decisions will need to be taken. All stakeholders incl. HC and SC judges need to be on the same page. The judges message/response has been very muddled. The government's silence on 'burqa'/lack of support for protesters of Lal masjid plus both the bail of Lakhvi and release of Malik Ishaq send conflicting messages to the awam and extremists.

Why is he congratulating himself and others at the end. Most of these points are no brainers that should have been on going. Make some progress before doing any chest thumping you moron. Like hang mullah burqa. Shutdown some of the madrasahs so we don't have to fight them again in 20 years. DO SOMETHING concrete Show progress on these laws.

Agreeed…i have stated several times that our political leadership needs to do a lot more than mere condemnation and conducting APCs but this announcement and PM speech has some solid material in it . So far nawaz sharif has shown leadership and been very active but we need to see practical implementation of his speech…otherwise his speech and all of this APC activity will backfire big time
Similarly, Imran Khan and rest of the political leadership has shown statesmanship by being part of APC and by agreeing on key points against terrorism…but they need to maintain a unified stand on terrorism. Political differences are fine and need to be addressed separately but a unified stand on terrorism should not be compromised.
Just Praying Allah that somehow we get rid of this cancer
