Re: Pakistan to lead global campaign against blasphemous content: interior minister
This is a sensitive issue. The sanctity of The Holy Prophet pbuh is very dear to every muslim’s heart.
The other day I was having a frank conversation with my mother on this and she made a very fair and valid point.
Her point essentially was why do these people think that it is ok to make fun of our Prophet pbuh when our cartoonists, film-makers or satirists have never ever disrespected their religious figures? i.e. freedom of speech has its limits. It is almost unthinkable that a muslim in his* hosh o’ hawaas* will ever make fun of Jesus and David (peace be upon both). Both are amongst the greatest prophets in Islam and highly revered by all. Can you openly mock the Queen in England and get away with it? … and she is not even a religious figure! Will these people just tolerate it and ignore it in the name of freedom of speech??
My reply was that our masses (esp. sub-continental) often react in such a violent and pathetic manner that these people deliberately needle us from time to time to evoke such a response and show us in poor light.
One can choose to ignore the blasphemers as I do. A few years back a danish film-maker made an objectionable film. Now youtube is not banned in the UK. *mera kabhi dil hi nahin chaha hai k mein aisi film dekhoun. *I have never even tried to search it on the web. I am sure it is still there..
Tau arz yeh hai k respect is in the heart. You don’t have to wear your religion on your sleeve all the time!
But if you are the emotional kind and you feel that you must protest then do it, it is your fundamental right … but your response should be rational, peaceful and civilised. Challenge these people in an open debate for instance.
Banning the entire social media is neither practical nor sensible. You learn many good things; new things thru knowledge sharing.
Taesh mein aa kar and incited by mullahs, how is burning your own KFC and other buildings (as has happened in the past) or killing your own people ever a sane response?
Can somebody kindly explain this to me?
Just a reminder to the Pakistan’s Lawmakers if they want to derive all of Pakistan’s Laws from the Holy Quran and Shariah, then they should keep in mind the Fact that
Islam is the only religion on Earth that decrees There shall be be No compulsion in religion!
so I say let us lead by example our Holy Prophet PBUH provided to us in his lifetime!
