Mashallah. God bless the Chinese for providing Pakistan the much needed money at this time of economic crisis for Pakistan. What is more intriguing is that the Countries (China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, UK, USA) which India had asked to intervene and support them after the Mumbai attacks, have infact ended up giving over $1.5 billion aid to Pakistan? This excludes the IMF loans.
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs Shaukat Tareen said on Wednesday that Pakistan would get US$500 million from China by January 5, 2009, while the World Bank would extend a similar amount to Pakistan during the next three months.
He was talking to newsmen after attending the meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance at the Parliament House here on Wednesday. To a question, Tareen said the government would oppose further increase in interest rates on loans.
Tareen added that China would extend a financial support of US$500 million by January 5, which would help improve the balance of payments position of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan would also get US$500 million from the World Bank during the next three months, which would further improve the balance of payments position. He expressed the hope that the government’s prudent economic measures would help overcome the budget deficit and the revenue targets set for the current fiscal year would also be achieved.
Well this money will surely help to provide the basic needs ( housing etc) to the newly appointed ministers. AS far as people of Pakistan is concerned, they are all lined up either to buy floor or feul from the black market. so it may be a good news to the army of the ministers only..
hanibal bhaijan. Great Zardari, the President of Pakistan, and PM Gilani and the PPP led government will make sure all the aid given is used wisely. If not, the people of Pakistan can always vote for someone else at the next elections.

^^ with the way situation is going on, i doubt there will be any elections.. although i hate to see army or any sort of un-elected govt, replacing the same, but at the same time this govt. got to give (atleast) basics to the people, which for some reason are not available and ppp being into govt for over 11 months has not been able to do anything about it...

I talk with Dad, situation is Faislabad is quiet good now, only 11 hours of shortage and less then 6 hours of shortage for industry. Instead of just bashing the government try to understand problems too, we have war situation with India and moving of forces + flights of planes cost money which unfortunately we don't have.
