Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi
Fraudz, I said we should bridge the gap b/w two extremes,
sure, no issues with that statement
now what it has to do with commercial buses and taxis. I am not against building financial centers, etc. But I am against spending so much money on one project that basically targets a certain class.
the exact same thing it has to do with the building. private commercial venture versus public service expenditure. for all I care they can build theme parks on the beach, revolving restaurants etc.
Fact is that niether you nor I have seen the financials. how the private funding is coming about, how govt is supporting it (majority tax subsidies I would think) and what the ROI is for the developers. No one in his right mind would want to build a building that is a losing proposition. The analysts assumptions could be wrong but they ahve to do due diligence to calculate how they are making money.
The only way they are making money is if the spaces are sold/leased. which means they are being taken by businesses, which means the businesses are buying and selling goods and services, which means people must work to produce and transport the goods, deliver the services etc. they would need supplies to make the business work from other businesses etc etc.
so while a certain class may be targeted, the impact would be seen across all classes, unless you expect millionaires to be mopping floors, driving delivery vehicles, working as security, receptionists, waiters, construction workers, electricians, plumbers etc.
And it has nothing do with karachi, I would have said the same if it was built in Lahore or Islamabad.
I never said it has anything to do with karachi or lahore or anything. I may have had an issue if it was being built in tindo jam, but not with it being built in a major city.
