Not really. Pakistan still won't be the 2nd best team in the world except as a statistic. The best is Australia (obviously) then England and South Africa IMO. With Thorpe and Flintoof in good nick as well as Trescothick I think England have a pretty useful batting line up these days and enough decent bowlers to do the job at one day level.

It would be a miracle to clean sweep SA. I just want to see Pak putting up a good fight in all ODIs. But you never know.
If SA wins 5-0 - Pak drops to 8th
SA wins 4-1 - Pak drops to 7th
If Pak wins 5-0 - Pak moves up to 2nd place with 114 pts
If Pak wins 4-1 or 3-2 - Pak moves up to 3rd place

I wouldnt call England second. We came very close to beating them in the Natwest Series, and we actually played better then them in all departments except fielding. South Africa is still probably the strongest team to beat after the mighty Australians. After that I think everyone is almost the same. India might be a little stronger then England and Pakistan at this time. I would rate them as the third best after Aussies and South Africans.
The England team has been strengthened since then with Thorpe coming back. Our bowlings better but England's batting line ups stronger and you need good batting in one dayers.
After Australia I still consider India 2nd best, afterall, they were in the finals.
England is way below the order, and lets not forget the Kiwis, after Aus and Ind, they were the best in WC.
England winning just a single tournament doesn't justify their overall performance.
Australia
India
South Africa
New Zealand
West Indies
England
Pakistan
Sri Lanka
Zimbabwe
Kenya
Bangladesh

The only world class batsman in their one day team at this moment is Tresco.
Vaughan is just another test wonder, Thorpe is bits & pieces type of player.
I would consider their bowling a stronger dept then their batsmen.
too right ehsan. Thorpe is THE best bat in England, Tresco can be exploited by the best pace bowlers. Pakistan just doesn't have the right to call themselves better at the moment, their batting had difficulty coping with BD. Let's get realistic.
Honest truth is Australia in a league of their own, then it comes India.
Once apon a time Pakistan was 2nd, (after World Cup 1999), but good stuff must come to a end.
I agree with Umair’s standing.
Well Kenya was in the Semi’s, maybe their the 4th best?

WC is not all it matter, y ppl think that india is 2nd or sri lanks 3rd just cause they did good in WC..
Sri Lanka is way down the order even if they reached semis, the fact that they struggled badly, lost to Kenya, won against SA unconvincingly, and struggled badly in Super 6s.
For a team to be top class, you have to beat quality teams.
