Pakistan test fires Shaheen 1-A missile

Pakistan test fires N-capable ballistic missile

Pakistan has test fired a nuclear-capable ballistic missile, military officials say, less than a week after India also test-launched a long-range missile.

The military said the test of the Shaheen 1-A, an intermediate-range missile capable of reaching targets in India, was successful.

Defence experts say that while the exact range of the Pakistani missile has not been revealed, it is capable of hitting targets up to 2,500 to 3,000km (1,550 to 1,850 miles) away - putting arch-rival India well within reach.

The Agni-V long-range intercontinental ballistic missile launched by India last week has a range of more than 5,000km (3,100 miles), potentially bringing targets in China within range.

Tit-for-tat nonsense! I don’t know how important this missile is for the security of the country as Shaheen 1 is already capable of covering most of India — given that India is what we think about all the time :smack:

This test came after India test-fired Agni V, a 5000-km range IRBM, with an aim to cover all of China. I hope China does not jumps into the maddening race of missiles. Probably because they are already sitting on a pile of ICBMs.

Re: Pakistan test fires Shaheen 1-A missile

China has nothing to worry about. They have enough deterrence to keep India away from armed rivalry. But i wonder though..both countries Pak and India have nuclear capable missiles..and i highly doubt they would use this on each other. . And they shouldn't and both countries know that very well.

Re: Pakistan test fires Shaheen 1-A missile

Well China already has 12,000-15,000 km range missiles, so their missiles can circle the world once and then hit India. :mehr: But regardless of that I hope none ever gets used. Ever. Neither from Pakistan, nor from India, China, US, or any other country. Nuclear warhead or otherwise. The world doesn’t need an inch more death and destruction than it already suffers from.

Some people advocate maintaining peace through advanced weaponry, and while I don’t completely disagree there, it should all stay within the realm of sanity. You develop something, and it may get used in the future, one way or the other. Even if it is decades from now. The world has finite resources after all, and there is enough to go around for (almost) everyone - except the greedy dogs, that is.

Re: Pakistan test fires Shaheen 1-A missile

Exactly, I am not sure two nuclear armed countries will be fighting full-time anytime soon. :flowers: The rest of the world wouldn’t let it come to it. At least not Pakistan, India, China, US, UK, France, and Russia. My only fears are Iran and North Korea, particularly the later.

Re: Pakistan test fires Shaheen 1-A missile

Total waste of resources and money if the purpose is just to test a Shaheen-1.

Shaheen is an already tested system and it is quite accurate at its delivery.
