Pakistan Thursday fired a modified Hatf-VII Babur cruise missile capable of carrying a nuclear payload for 700 km, in the latest series of ballistic missile tests.
‘The test is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts at consolidating its strategic capability and strengthening national security,’ the military said in a statement.
The terrain-hugging and highly manoeuvrable missile can avoid radar detection and hit targets with ‘pinpoint’ accuracy, according to designers.
Pakistan started serial production of the earlier version of Hatf-VII with a range of 500 km in October 2005, later adding 200 km to the range with modifications.
**The land-based launch came on the eve of a Pakistan Day military parade. This is the third launch of Pakistani missile systems in a month and is regarded as an attempt to achieve nuclear parity with India.

Some months back there were rumors circulating that Pakistan would soon test fire a new version of Babur which would be submarine launch able. The press release doesn’t mention any such capabilities. Anyone with details?

Talking to Geo News after a ceremony here, the nuclear scientist said Pakistan will conduct latest missiles tests before long, adding, “Pakistan is not at par with USA; however, it is far ahead of its neighbour, as we possess far superior technology across Asia.”

Islamabad, March 31 (Xinhua) Pakistan Saturday carried out a successful test of a short-range surface-to-surface nuclear-capable missile, the military said.
‘A successful test fire of indigenously developed short range surface-to-surface ballistic missile Hatf-II Abdali was conducted by Pakistan,’ a statement from the army’s Inter-Services Public relations said.
The missile, which has a range of 200 km, can carry all types of warheads, it added.
The test was aimed at validation of the desired technical parameters, which has been successfully achieved, the statement said.
The Abdali missile was last test-fired in the first week of March.
On March 22, Pakistan had test-fired a 700-km range Babur (Hatf-VII) cruise missile, which is capable of carrying a variety of warheads including nuclear ones.

This is just a mad race of missiles and nothing else to deter and to intimidate the enemy. We needed cruise missiles becuase apparently they are more affective and efficent in terms of the speed, the weight, distance from the ground and suceptibility to damage and not to forget the manoeuverarabilty factor (if BMD system is installed).
As regards SLBMS, I guess (only my guess) that Pakistan is still far from producing those but with cruise missiles added to our inventory and Pakistan being able to make it on its own, who knows we are also working towards SLCMS (submarine launch cruise missiles).

i think that pakistan should develop anti missile defence system like the one shown in the gulf war patriot missiles, a robust defence is far more effective overall.

Pakistan needs to concentrate heavily of defensive weaponry
Pakistan is not going to launch an offensive war against any of its neighbour
Iran, India or Afghanistan.
But the danger of an Iranian incursion into Baluchistan or Indian incursions into Pakistan through Kashmir, Punjab and Sindh are too great.
Appropriate AAA batteries, anti-tank missiles, and limited offensive capability to bleed the enemy reserve formations while our Strike Corps carry out limited offensive attacks to keep the enemy off balance must be maintained.
I suggest 2,000 Front line Tanks with 2,000 in Reserve along with 2 Artillery Division Strike Corps with atleast battalion size troops of anti-tank missile troops to neutralize enemy tanks.
