I don't know whoever this Alan Funt was, but some news articles said the attack was carried out after "availability" of pics of militants training and what not.... so why not show them to public? I bet those pics are of same "secret" nature as the smoking-gun-evidence-of-Iraq's WMDs.

That's true, I think situation is still better because the nationalists are out of the business, but the day nationalists and religious extremists join hands together against the incidents like Bajawar, the situaion may become far worse rather totally out of control.

WASHINGTON: The Pakistan authorities had little choice but to bomb the Bajaur school site after they received ‘overwhelming proof’ from US intelligence sources that it was being used as a training centre for insurgents, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.
“They loaded us with evidence. The strike was absolutely inevitable,” said a senior intelligence official, also speaking on condition of anonymity. Another official called the attack a “major test” of military and intelligence cooperation between the United States and Pakistan. “We thought about other options, but the Americans weren’t ready to take any chances,” he said. “We were caught between the devil and the deep sea.”
“A refusal to act,” the paper quoted unnamed Pakistanis as saying, “would have badly damaged their relations with the United States.”
In a detailed report from Pamela Constable and Kamran Khan, the Post said after the Dargai suicide bombing, “officials are predicting a new wave of violence, as anti-government anger spreads and religious extremists call for holy war against the Pakistani military and Western forces fighting in Afghanistan.”
“This is a disaster. We all recognize the gravity of the situation,” a senior military official in Peshawar told the Post, speaking on condition of anonymity. “It’s a nightmare to have an army being attacked on its own soil and by its own people.” After the two incidents, he added, “the doors to peaceful negotiated settlements are closed. I am afraid we are on a war course in the tribal areas.”
The paper said public condemnation of the missile attack has been almost universal in Pakistan. Many people say they believe it was actually carried out by a U.S. Predator drone, which witnesses described as circling overhead before Pakistani helicopter gunships arrived. U.S. and Pakistani officials have denied that.
Local leaders have also vehemently asserted that the school, run by a cleric from a banned extremist group, was used only for religious studies and that many young students were killed in the strike. No physical evidence of a training camp has been publicly produced, journalists have been barred from the site, and most of the victims’ bodies were too disfigured to identify.
“What they did see was disturbing enough: a tense, angry crowd that surrounded their vehicles, shouting for holy war against the Pakistani and US governments, less than a week after local leaders had been ready to sign a peace pact with the government,” the paper reported.
“If it was a military camp, I found no sign of it. But the people were very inflamed,” said Barrister Baachaa, one of the lawyers. “Bajauris are known to be quiet and not carrying guns, but the mood is becoming very militant. If Bajaur can fall into Talibanization, so can the other tribal areas, and then I fear it can spread to the settled areas, too,” he said. “This has to be contained, but the way they did it in Bajaur has only made it worse.”

Well this was obvious… I mean the Paks just dont have the inteligence capability to gather this kind of so called evidence. I mean the pictures of the training that was taking place around 5 am could only have been taken through US sources.

78 kids died, lets see bodies of 78 kids, we wont see them because errr there were no 78 kids…govt has already showed that the tribals list is bogus. As far as why not show evidence to public, public is not the judge or jury here

no but a lot of potential attacks have been averted....
I mean look, these people in the tribal areas are not all innocent
they have helped anti-pakistan elements fight our troops, they conduct terrorist campaigns against Pakistani targets and de-stabilize the border and want to maintain the status quo
but the status quo has to change and that is the problem
they still want to exercise their soverignity where there autonomous state is the exact reason pakistan is used by terrorists

The taliban have always avoided attacking pakistan Alhamdulilah. I hope this stays the same way Insha'ALLAH. Remember that conflict we nearly had with Iran over land (under which was oil or gas)? The iranians backed off especially when we sent fighters near thier border by Afghanistan...

public is not the judge or the jury. The govt can share evidence with them or not. what we know already is that the story of tribals is bunch of bull. So even if you do not want to believe the govt, you know that the other story is not true. Public can come up with its onw theories now. 2 sets of claims were put forward, one has been proven bogus..the tribals version..so you can believe the govts version or formulate your own theory.
public can ask courts and all to force govt to show evidence. That would take its due course, but every tanveer, daud and hamid are not some supreme court judges. They should focus more on paying their taxes and working hard for a change.
They have a full right to believe whatever the hell they want to believe, they do not have a right to immediate and complete disclosure of information whic can have potential intelligence implications.

not really, what we already know is that government was unable to provide any information on who was killed, how many "Al-CIAda" militants died and why govt was about to sign a treaty with same people few hours/days later.

They donot necessarily have to disclose who was the local person who provided the info... atleast a disclosure of the so-called training pics, identification of the militants who died etc. Can govt go for a judicial commission inquiry?

The veidence would be the same as showing Al-Qaida doing some PT show.. do suicide bombers needs such physical training!! and would suicide attackers be trained in such a big gang of some 80 people.. It is well known that suicide bombers are trained in isolation and in a very small trusted group and not in a big madrassa like that!!

if it was a gathering of ppl more from a planning aspect then there would be no weapons. not that weapons are hard to find in that region to begin with.
