Pakistan slams Newsweek report

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has strongly condemned a news item carried by the latest edition of Newsweek magazine about the reported desecration of the Holy Quran and highly objectionable and regrettable treatment meted out to prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the reported act of sacrilege has shocked people of all faiths around the world. “The Government of Pakistan condemns the incident and demands that an inquiry be conducted to bring the perpetrators of this shameful act to justice,” it added. nni
