Lahore, June 16 : Pakistan cricket team coaches Haroon Rashid and Aaqib Javed have said that the team management has shortlisted four players as the possible replacement of Inzamam-ul-Haq, who quit the one-day game after the World Cup in March.
** Misbah-ul-Haq, Hasan Raza, Aasim Kamal and Faisal Iqbal** are being considered to fill the place of Inzamam in the middle order.
“We have worked on the grey areas of the players and particularly flaws in their batting and fielding,” The Nation quoted the two coaches, as saying while praising the ongoing training conditions at hill station Abbottabad.
“The trainers of Pakistan Military School of Physical Training are impressive and working on boys scientifically,” said Javed.
“I want to see my team as no two of the world at the end of this season and I believe this training will be a key to the process,” he added.
Commenting Shoaib Malik’s captaincy, the former fast bowler said Malik leads the team from front and is himself a big motivational power.
“He comes ahead in every department and urges all his teammates to act well throughout the training,” Javed said.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
Misbah-ul-Haq:
Hasan Raza:
Aasim Kamal:
Faisal Iqbal:
I doubt they can replace Inzi even if all these four play together. Misbah is an Asif Mujtaba of modern age. Hasan is born to play First Class ONLY!!! Aasim is a little late on international areana and Faisal will remain an off and on. These guys simply do not posses the class that Inzi had.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
^ No one can replace Inzi please don't compare them or anyone with Inzi. They are considered to fill the place only in the middle order, most likely 5th spot.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
The bottom line is no one can replace Inzi. His talent and that of Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad, Imran Khan and Wasim Akram...are rare to find and do not come in every other middle order batsmen in the country...unfortunately.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
No doubt Asim Kamal. Pakistan is going to waste another talent if they don't use Asim Kamal properly. The guy still has atleast 4-5 years of international cricket left in him.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
i think at this moment Hassan Raza is ideal choice, considering the fact that Misbah & Asim Kamal are tooo old & Faisal Iqbal was given a lot of chances.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
yep…
the only hmmm …is Aasim.
However, PCB should concentrate on grooming youngsters at the U-19 and academy level. This country can produce many more Inzimams. Patience and proper coaching and grooming are keys to finding a real replacement.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
Selectors are morons. Inzi's role can only be replaced by Yousuf or Younis. They need to look for a middle order batsman, not a Inzi replacement. Idiots.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
Asim Kamal is the only promising middle order batsman who can fill Izni's spot. Hopefully PCB will do justice to his talent. Not sure about ODIs but he is a good test player.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
Hasan Raza for sure.
And you're saying it because of what????? Can you please elaborate a little. What he posses that others are not offering? Youth? solid first class performance? constant failure on Int'l scene? or the fact that he is athna-ashri?
Asim is best suited on No. 5 or 6 position. He must be tried in ODI as well, he will take the same amount of balls to settle down as YK, MY and Inzi used to take. He is just not a super star type. But we don't need one, we had enough of super stars and their enormous power play in 03 and 07 WC. We need a mature head in middle order who can build up the innings around MY and Malik.
Inzi's replacement probably means, on his place in the team. Inzi was a rare talent and unique. We might find a better batsmen than him or may be not, but at this time nobody is in that class.
Re: Pakistan shortlists four players to replace Inzamam
^ Yes youth Is on his side. I think He's a very good batsman who can do well In the middle order provided he gets a decent run in the ODI side, not 2 or 3 games then left to rot for a year. Asim although very good, Is not a naturally attacking batsman and Misbah has been wasted In the A set up for too long.
