LAHORE, Aug 27: Pakistan outclassed favourites Japan 3-0 to qualify for the semifinals of the 14th Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Tehran, Iran on Wednesday. Pakistan, which has also earned an upset victory against Australia to enter the last four for the first ever time, defeated Japan with a score line of 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.
In the first set, Pakistani spikers cruised smoothly to lead in first technical time out with the score of 8-5 and, from then onward, the team got into full rhythm. In the second set, Pakistan team changed its strategy and used different combinations to leave the opponents stunned while they doubled the lead.
In the last set, Pakistan completed the easy win through tough blocking and sizzling service from Zaheer Khan, Naeem Jan, Farooq Khan and Zaheer Abbas.

Pakistan seniors performance has been dismal over the last few years although it remained South Asian Champions during 1990s.

Pakistan, Iran semi-final today: Super League volleyball

LAHORE, Aug 29: Pakistan maintained super form in the ongoing 14th Asian Junior volleyball championship when it thrashed defending champions Korea 3-0 in the last match of the Super League in Tehran, Iran, on Friday.
Pakistan, who already qualified for the semi-final by defeating Australia and Japan, boosted their morale further by shocking Korea with a 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 defeat.
By making the last four, the young Pakistan team also qualified for the World Junior championship.
Before winning, Pakistan took a 16-13 lead against Korea in the first set in the second technical time out.
In the second set, ace spikers Ali Abbas, Mohib Rasool, Zaheer Khan and Zaheer Abbas also changed serving tactics to force Korea into making errors while Pakistan doubled the lead.
Korea, in the final set, tried coming back into the match but all they managed to do was stretch Pakistan to 27-25 before losing the set and with it the match.

Pakistan lost semi final to Iran but played very well. In 3rd-4th place play off, Pakistan overwhelmed India for bronze medal.

Iranian youth outshine China to lift volleyball trophy

**TEHRAN - Iranian youth outshined China Sunday in the final of the 14th Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball Championship at Tehran’s Azadi Gymnasium. **
The Iranians defeated the Chinese by 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-22.
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad’s sports adviser and chief of Physical Education Organization (PEO) Mohammad Aliabadi viewed the final game with many other dignitaries.
For third place Pakistan thrashed the Indians by 25-12, 25-11, and 25-20.
On Saturday Iran beat Pakistan and China put India away to reach the final.
The Iranian squad beat the Pakistani green shirts, who has Iranian national Alireza Moammeri as coach by 25-23, 25-20, and 25-20.
On Friday Iran defeated Japan in three consecutive sets.
In other matches the same day, India beat Australia 3-0, Pakistan defeated South Korea 3-0 and China won a victory over Qatar to storm into the semifinals.
Pakistan made history when they beat South Korea 3-0 at Azadi Sports Complex. The green shirts also qualified for the World Junior Men’s Volleyball Championship. Pakistanis beat Koreans 25-20, 25-22, 27-25.
Thirteen countries have participated in the nine-day event that was hosted by Iran.
The Iranian side now qualifies for the World Youth Volleyball Championships to be held in Italy next year, as both the winner and the runner-up of the Asian tournament are guaranteed a place.
