Pakistan Seeks NATO Force in Afghanistan

Munir needs to quit living in the past. He also needs to be suave and not some testy Mullah.

*Pakistani envoy Munir Akram got testy and told the U.N. Security Council: ``We feel very strongly that we are doing everything we can.‘’ *

No need to get testy. It is time to calmly and decisively tell the UN and Afghanistan that Pakistan will commit troops for hot pursuit in Afghan areas. NATO should take care of the mess otherwise Pakistan will!

*He said .. Pakistan ..has sent…a large force to the border and into tribal areas where the British did not venture for 150 years when they ruled the country. *

Correction 60 years. That’s pretty lame to be living 110 years in the past. While it is important to respect the tribal ways in FATA, terrorism, smuggling and other crimes must be stopped.
British troops 110 years ago were facing totally different situation. Geostrategically they wanted to make sure Russia doesn’t get a chance in tribal areas. Technology was not there to support aerial assaults on the tribal hideouts. Politically British were simply “Colonists”.
In 2004, Russia is gone, technology like Airplanes and helicopters have taken away the advantage of mountain hideouts. Last but not least, for Heaven’s sake FATA localities are Pakistani areas so it had better take care of them.
