Pakistan’s tactical moves displease US

DAWN.COM | Front Page | Pakistan?s tactical moves displease US

Interesting. It seems there was a move by the US to talk to the Taliban and a certain group was moving towards it. Pakistan stepped in and messed it up.

So what was this news of the joint operation in Karachi? Did the CIA really know? Or did Pakistan move in faster?

What does this also mean for US initiatives for Afghanistan?

Re: Pakistan’s tactical moves displease US

This means the jihadi bigwigs are beginning to call in their favors from the military in Pakistan.

Kayani conveyed the same message privately to Mullen and Petraeus when they met at the Pakistani Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, south of Islamabad, in mid-December last year. Kayani tried to explain the intricacies of Army operations in the Waziristan region, telling his guests that Pakistan’s Army would determine the scale and timing of any future military campaign into North Waziristan. He reportedly assured them of full cooperation – but “only if we are viewed with trust and not suspicion.”

Yeah sure, private that is all over the news..

Re: Pakistan’s tactical moves displease US

Anything that Pakistan does will not be to the satisfaction of US, the only possibility that could satisfy US is handing over command of Pakistan army to US so that US doesn't have to utilise its army personnel in Afghanistan OR let US do whatever they want in Pakistan i.e. Waziristan, FATA or 'arrest of Taliban leadership' in ANY city etc.

They are saying ‘private’ not ‘secret’ :chai:

Re: Pakistan’s tactical moves displease US

fascinating. kamaal dunya hay. so much trickery and double dealing from both sides.

Re: Pakistan’s tactical moves displease US

Now a days nothing seems to be pleasing Americans, they are suffering from heavy loses and after 8/9 years of war, they still cannot even announce a hint of victory or can say that they are close to arrest the LEGENDARY CHARACTER of Osama bin Laden ( who btw facilitates to achieve the objectives of American's ministry of Offense).

In mean time, the ignored regional powers are playing their role to secure their interests in the region... whats so wrong about it??? We cannot afford to go to war against USA, but we can mold the situation to suit our interests in Afghanistan, what is so wrong about it?

Captain1 right on.

If it was up to Zardari he would have given the commands of Pakistan army to the U.S. as long his pockets were being filled. US is always looking for an army to do its dirty work. If Pakistan negotiates with Pakistani militants then U.S of A jumps in and bombs them to the middle ages. When US of A wants to negotiate they expect Pakistan to accept them as masters and facilitate them.
