Agreed Marasi. But Posh Spice can't see anything good happen to Pakistan. What else is new? Their economy is going at 7.5% a year and they are expanding their influence yet again when American inlfuence is waning. We should take advantage of this.

Doing Business within pakistan for outsiders is dominated by the west and must be china, be it defence or infrastructure. Russia wouldn't be gaining directly much from this as it is already dominated by others. Neither would pakistan gain strategically much from russians, but may be pakistan can just make russians not lean too much towards indians. It could also be possible that Russia is just using this engament with pakistan to ensure that indians give their lucrative defence contracts only to them.
Maybe we can ask Russia to bail us out. I would like Pakistan to lease the Gwader to China and Pasni to Russia. (Pasni 60 years lease agreement would include Russian President, Pakistani Prime Minister, Russia will be responsible for invest and share the profit with local government)
I know Pakistan with it's corrupted politicians will never be able to develop these coastal cities, at lease China and Russia will invest in these areas, create jobs which will improve the economy and status of living for the people of Gwader and Pasni.
Ever since 1947, Pakistani lefties and commies have been jumping up and down for the trade with Russians.
The reality is that Russian economy and Russian strategic interests DO NOT match with Pakistan.
Therefore it never worked out for Pakistan to get any long term benefit from them. In fact Indians the biggest crock for Ruskies have dumped Russia for pretty much the same reasons.
Funny that 50-80% of trade surplus of India, china, S. Korea, Singapore, Japan is with the USA and EU. The biggest export destination for Pakistani products is the USA.
Russia is trying its level best to continue the anarchy in Afghanistan just so that the central Asian resources remain under Ruskie thumb.
But Pakistan's leftie and socialist intellectuals will keep on singing Ruskie songs. da da da dadadada dada dasvidania.
I Kind a agree on this again, every time i have to central Asia, i always had feeling that i am on an other planet or something and was never comfortable while discussing any contract with them. To me we can have a different kind of trade with Russians, i do understand that it will increase our weight in the global arena while having Russians on our side or at minimum not against us...
Unlike West, Russians have never dumped their allies, they have always stood their ground and tried their best to protect them.
Now if we can have Russia to get better terms from US and West!!! as the last thing USA would like to see is, we getting in Russian Camp.. they already have problems with our Chinese partnerships.. having ties with Russia will only give us strong grounds to negotiate.
Secondly, Russia have great influence on the central asian state, we can use that influence to boost our trade relationship with these countries, we can offer them our ports and trade routes for trading... last time when i was in one of the CIS states, I met a cement guy who said, they like to import cement from Pakistan, but they have to buy it from Afhganies who sell them at high price..

I guess this is what Russians are asking, they need Gawadar or Pasni, we cannot give them Gawadar but we can provide them with Pasni.
