2: One can steal to get rich
3: One can marry to get rich.

Zardari did all three … though in opposite order what is mentioned above … that is 3 … 2 … 1 :slight_smile:

3: He Started by marrying to get rich.
2: Then he with his wife stole the country dry to get rich.
1: In the end Zardari inherited his wife wealth to get rich.

**Corrupts and Pakistan: **The biggest problem of Pakistan … be that security wise, strategic, economical, survival, development, progress, prosperity … the problem is here:

We should know that … a country can never develop or prosper if there is corruption. A corrupt is worse than traitor because a traitor ‘MAY’ harm the country but corrupt ‘SURELY’ harms the country. A traitor harms the country for money and corrupt do the same.

In the end … a traitor cannot harm the country as much as corrupt and that is fact. If Pakistan has to go forward than we have to hang the corrupts .. and that is … no question, no sympathy … no chance.

Here is tribute (as in above vedio) by ‘FOX NEWS’ to one of the two biggest corrupt person Pakistan has ever seen, that is BaNazir Bhutto … who along with Nawaz Shareef (another comparable corrupt Person Pakistan has ever seen) … harmed the country more than any person has ever done or may ever do.

Please see the vedio and think … do not enjoy but cry, as it is a shameful thing that how world news talk about Pakistani corrupts, icon of Pakistani democracy … voice of Pakistani masses … but I could not complain or say anything to ‘Fox News’ as what they said in the vedio is 100 percent true … and it is us shameful Pakistanis who are so shameful that many of us still love them corrupts, fight with fellow Pakistanis and others for them, talk about them with good feelings and want them to come to power again and rule Pakistan (I really feel ashamed of such people).

What about Mushrraf? He must have billion or 2 courtesy of the USA. Last time I checked Americans were saying that at least 5 billion $$ of the aide they gave to Pakistan in last 6 year is unaccounted for.

In Pakistan you can also get rich by joining army, and becoming a general. All Pakistani generals are rich as any politician, if not more.

Musharraf being a dictator and tyrannt does not absolve Zardari of his crimes.

I have also given a vedio of FOX NEWS ... look at FOX News I posted ... where reporters openly calling BB, NS and Zarari corrupt and thief. ... No western media men have called Musharraf thief or corrupt, did they? ... Even when Musharraf openly warn USA and told them that if they enter Pakistan, it would be considered as invasion and that USA would regret the day ... and also told USA that they gave 9 billion dollars and how it was spent .. and that if USA stop any miney than also it would not matter, as Pakistani economy would still grow ... still no american said that .. Musharraf is thief or corrupt ... FOX or other NEWs channel none dared saying that, None could not and would not call Musharraf thief or corrupt as they would get sued ... and if they have ... can you show?

So, if these SOB cases Nawaz Shareef and Zardari are not thief and corrupt, or that if BeNazir did not do corruption and stole Pakistan, why dont you ask them to sue FOX NEWS?

I know quite a few generals ... and I dont think that any of them are that much exceptionally rich. Maybe, only those army generals who are in your company are mostly corrupts.

I agree with that, but are you saying one criminal is better than the other? BTW, he spent 8 years in jail, but the Mushrrafs regime even failed to convict him on 1 count of graft. That speaks for itself, don't you agree?

Personally I think Musharraf's only crime was the incident of May 12. Otherwise he has done better to cope with the situations arising during his 9 years of rule.

I don’t think there is any doubt about corruption in Pakistan. You and I both know it’s a fact of life.

There are well documented cases of corruption under Mushrrafs regime. That all will come out with due time when Mushrraf is no longer in power. Thats how things work in Pakistan. During NS and BBs time no one thought they were corrupt either.

What was the question and result?

Results: This is the answer what Transparency Internaltion got:

**48.7 percent said that BeNazir period was most corrupt.
43.03 percent said that Nawaz period was most corrupt.

3.17 percent said that Musharraf period is most corrupt.**

Just look at figures of BeNazir and Nawaz … than compare that with Musharraf and you will notice that it is difference of sky with earth. You can see that compare to BB and NS, Musharraf regime is negligible corrupt.

Transparency International survey found that 91.73 percent believe that periods of ‘NS and BB’ was most corrupt period Pakistan has ever seen. Whereas even though Musharraf rule is current and many supporters of ‘NS and BB’ plus ‘so-called Jihadis’ wants Musharraf government to be shown as bad and corrupt, still only 3.17 percent though that Musharraf government is corrupt.

Well, if they are .. .get it out. As for that it would come after Musharraf is no longer in power … that is BS. Cases of NS and BB was already there when they were in power and world as well as most Pakistanis knew that they are doing corruption.

Actually, many of western world media was publishing reports of their corruption and British electronic media was openly calling both of them corrupt even when they were in power.

December 28, 2007 — FOR the next several days, you’re going to read and hear a great deal of pious nonsense in the wake of the assassination of Pakistan’s former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto. Her country’s better off without her. She may serve Pakistan better after her death than she did in life. We need have no sympathy with her Islamist assassin and the extremists behind him to recognize that Bhutto was corrupt, divisive, dishonest and utterly devoid of genuine concern for her country.

She was a splendid con, persuading otherwise cynical Western politicians and ‘hardheaded’ journalists that she was not only a brave woman crusading in the Islamic wilderness, but also a thoroughbred democrat.

In fact, Bhutto was a frivolously wealthy feudal landlord amid bleak poverty. The scion of a thieving political dynasty, she was always more concerned with power than with the wellbeing of the average Pakistani. Her program remained one of old-school patronage, not increased productivity or social decency.
Educated in expensive Western schools, she permitted Pakistan’s feeble education system to rot - opening the door to Islamists and their religious schools.
During her years as prime minister, Pakistan went backward, not forward. Her husband looted shamelessly and ended up fleeing the country, pursued by the courts. The Islamist threat - which she artfully played both ways - spread like cancer.

But she always knew how to work Westerners - unlike the hapless Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who sought the best for his tormented country but never knew how to package himself.

Military regimes are never appealing to Western sensibilities. Yet, there are desperate hours when they provide the only, slim hope for a country nearing collapse. Democracy is certainly preferable - but, unfortunately, it’s not always immediately possible. Like spoiled children, we have to have it now - and damn the consequences.

In Pakistan, the military has its own forms of graft; nonetheless, it remains the least corrupt institution in the country and the only force holding an unnatural state together. In Pakistan back in the ’90s, the only people I met who cared a whit about the common man were military officers.
Americans don’t like to hear that. But it’s the truth.

Bhutto embodied the flaws in Pakistan’s political system, not its potential salvation. Both she and her principal rival, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, failed to offer a practical vision for the future - their political feuds were simply about who would divvy up the spoils.

From its founding, Pakistan has been plagued by cults of personality, by personal, feudal loyalties that stymied the development of healthy government institutions (provoking coups by a disgusted military). When she held the reins of government, Bhutto did nothing to steer in a new direction - she merely sought to enhance her personal power.

Now she’s dead. And she may finally render her country a genuine service (if cynical party hacks don’t try to blame Musharraf for their own benefit). After the inevitable rioting subsides and the spectacular conspiracy theories cool a bit, her murder may galvanize Pakistanis against the Islamist extremists who’ve never gained great support among voters, but who nonetheless threaten the state’s ability to govern.

As a victim of fanaticism, Bhutto may shine as a rallying symbol with a far purer light than she cast while alive. The bitter joke is that, while she was never serious about freedom, women’s rights and fighting terrorism, the terrorists took her rhetoric seriously - and killed her for her words, not her actions.

Nothing’s going to make Pakistan’s political crisis disappear - this crisis may be permanent, subject only to intermittent amelioration. (Our State Department’s policy toward Islamabad amounts to a pocket full of platitudes, nostalgia for the 20th century and a liberal version of the white man’s burden mindset.)

The one slim hope is that this savage murder will - in the long term - clarify their lot for Pakistan’s citizens. The old ways, the old personalities and old parties have failed them catastrophically. The country needs new leaders - who don’t think an election victory entitles them to grab what little remains of the national patrimony.

In killing Bhutto, the Islamists over-reached (possibly aided by rogue elements in Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, one of the murkiest outfits on this earth). Just as al Qaeda in Iraq overplayed its hand and alienated that country’s Sunni Arabs, this assassination may disillusion Pakistanis who lent half an ear to Islamist rhetoric.

A creature of insatiable ambition, Bhutto will now become a martyr. In death, she may pay back some of the enormous debt she owes her country.

Berlin, Dec 7: Pakistan has been ranked seventh in the list of most corrupt countries in the world by the anti-corruption watchdog, Transparency International.

According to the 2007 Global Corruption Barometer, the countries with the highest level of bribery are – Albania, Cambodia, Cameroon, Macedonia, Kosovo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania and Senegal.

Some of the world’s poorest people in Africa and Asia are hardest hit by public corruption, says the survey, adding that they are forced to pay bribes for police protection, education and justice.

"Poor families are hit hardest by demands for bribes, " The Nation quoted Transparency International, as saying in a summary of its report.

"This year’s Global Corruption Barometer has made it clear that too often, people must part with their hard-earned money to pay for services that should be free, " said the organization chairman, Huguette Labelle, in a statement.

As a region, Africa suffered public corruption the most.

In the African countries surveyed, 42 per cent of the people reported that they had been asked to pay a bribe to obtain a service during the past 12 months.

The Asia-Pacific region was next with 22 per cent; Moldova and Ukraine with 21 per cent; Latin America with 13 per cent; southeastern Europe with 12 per cent; the European Union with five per cent; and North America with two per cent.

The survey was compiled by Gallup, the polling agency.

With 21-33 per cent bribery percentage (the percentage of respondents reporting they paid a bribe to obtain a service), India is in the same bracket as Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Indonesia, Lithuania, Moldova, Peru, Serbia and Ukraine.

In a survey of over 63,199 people in 60 countries, a majority believed that corruption is on the rise.

Around 54 per cent said they expect the level of corruption to increase in the next three years, 26 per cent said it would stay the same, while 20 per cent said it would decrease.

Nearly 70 per cent said political parties were the most corrupt institutions, followed by about 55 per cent who said parliament or the country’s legislature was the most corrupt, narrowly trailed by just over 50 per cent citing police departments.

The figures total more than 100 per cent because people gave multiple answers to the institutions where they paid bribes.

Cameroon fared the worst, with 79 per cent of respondents saying they had paid a bribe to obtain services. They were followed by 72 per cent of Cambodians, 71 per cent of Albanians, 67 per cent from Kosovo; both Macedonia and Pakistan registered 44 percent.

Canada, Japan, South Korea, Austria, France, Iceland, Sweden and Switzerland fared the best overall, with only one per cent of respondents saying they had paid a bribe.

The United States, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Britain did only slightly worse with two percent.

The study found that police departments were the most corrupt, with one in four respondents. who had been in contact with police, saying that they had been asked to pay a bribe - and one in six ended paying up.

Brother, please read what I wrote carefully and try to understand. I did not write that there is no corruption in Pakistan, rather I wrote that there is corruption ... but it is negligible compared to what it was during BB and NS time. I wrote:

Its just like .. You have a million dollars so you are rich compared to those that do not have even 1000 dollars. But compared to Bill Gates your wealth is 'negligible ... almost zero' ... right? So, when I used the word 'compared' and than used 'negligible ... almost zero' ... you should understand the context, that is with respect to corruption at the time of NS and BB.

Now think. If even today Pakistan is corrupt country, and still corruption is negligible compared to NS and BB time ... than just imagine what was the level of corruption during those two mega corrupt periods ... and it is obvious, as that is why Pakistan was going bankrupt during their period.

So, for sake of democracy … or for sake of those above people I mentioned … Musharraf had to bring her back. Because, they wanted her … not Musharraf … and that is why you could find many statement of Musharraf that he do not expect her to win and that she could only form government if she wins and manage to change ‘3rd time Prime Minister’ clause in constitution :slight_smile:

How about first defining whats negligible? I agree, we went (I think from number 2 or 3) to number 7 on corruption index, but we're still among the top 10 corrupt countries in the world. BTW, you said there is almost "zero" corruption under Mushrraf's regime. If you think being #7 most corrupt country is something to be proud off than you're entitled to your opinion.
