Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

The Republic Day of Pakistan is celebrated on the 23rd of March to commemorate the Lahore Resolution and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan in 1956. As I am not a Pakistani, and don’t know too much about Pakistan..I thought I would google and see if I can find some interesting and funny facts about Pakistan. There are somethings that I had no clue about :

The name Pakistan means “Land of the Pure” in Sindhi, Urdu, and Persian.

• The national language of Pakistan is Urdu, while its official language is English. Apart from that, Balochi, Pashto, Persian, Punjabi, Sindhi and Siraiki are also spoken there.

• Pakistan has the sixth largest military force in the world.

• The official and national sport of Pakistan is field hockey. Cricket, however, is the most popular sport.

• About 1.7 million refugees from Afghanistan live in Pakistan.

• Pakistani cuisine is similar to that of north India, but the average Pakistani eats three times as much meat as the average Indian. :cb:

Re: Fun & Interesting Facts about Pakistan

60 languages??!! :hayaa:

Very interesting read, guys! :k:

Re: Fun & Interesting Facts about Pakistan

I don't think they are all distinct languages, just slight variations of the ones we already know.

Re: Fun & Interesting Facts about Pakistan

These facts are not incorrect, instead they are incomplete because they cant make a good argument as to why Pakistan could be a dreamland but since we, the ones who have oppressed ourselves and have brought it upon ourselves in ruin and destruction that is why Pakistan seems almost unlivable.

Re: Fun & Interesting Facts about Pakistan

No matter how livable or unlivable Pakistan is, facts remain. No one is bragging about the facts but facts are facts eh?

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

The maximum elevation in the Sindh Segment of Kirthar Mountains was reported in April 2009 as 7,056 feet above sea-level. In comparison, town of Murree is 7,500 ft above sea-level.

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

PS: Happy Pakistan Day in advance to everyone! :jhanda:

Let’s all make a special dua for peace and prosperity in Pakistan. My personal request to everyone would be to remember Allah swt even in the worst of times. As responsible citizens, we should indicate the faults of our country but also try to see the positive in our mulk and its people once in a while. Nothing hurts me more than to see Pakistanis being embarrassed of their roots. God bless Pakistan.

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

what i meant to say is they are not illustrated properly. for example

which should be "The highest mountain in Pakistan is K2, which is also Second-highest mountain on Earth"

or

which should be stated as "Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world, with 170 million, on only covers 0.53%-0.59% area of the world. whereas Ontario (one Canadian province), which is larger in area than Pakistan and has less population"

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

Ameen! :jhanda:

Thankyou BBC

Re: Fun & Interesting Facts about Pakistan

yep, and this help can only be start when we first admit that "we need the help to help ourselves".

ps. both of your analogies are bogus. neither they fit with the stated scenario nor they illustrate the current situation of Pakistan.

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

Look if your not happy with Pakistan work towards making it better but stop taking every opurtunity to put your country down it serves no purpose whatsoever. I know things are not hunky dory thats part of the reason I havent been back for some time… but that does not mean you forget what you are.

Take some pride in yourself man… chin up!

Look at least we can still keep something of our people alive… I tell you even if they wipe out any trace of Pakistan from the World map, it’s an ideological spirit that can still re-spawn somewhere else… every race and culture has it’s ebbs and flows… You telling me that your 100% perfect?

Nobody is so no country can be perfect either… but at least show some respect for the Motherland for once… you guys can bash the nation in the Politics forum but stop ruining March the 23rd Threads. :aj:

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

:k: True!!!

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

Kindly, save your speech for indian soap operas. it serves no constructive purpose. I dont need to prove you how much I love Pakistan or not because it is of no use. You aint less than the singers who sing with out passion and the freedon fighters who are fighting without any cause.

as for me being happy with Pakistan, well Pakistan is nothing without Pakistanis and Pakistanis are nothing without Pakistan. my problem could be with Pakistanis, but not with Pakistan, because i haven’t posted any fact so far so i dont see what are you whining for.

Re: Pakistan Republic Day - Fun Facts about Pakistan

What on earth are you blabbering about? :konfused:

If your Happy with Pakistan and have a problem with Pakistani’s then what are you doing on a Forum which is made up of mostly Paksitani’s whom you seem to despise so much? :bummer:

Yaar seriously stop being so awkward… your ruining the whole thread. :aj:
