once i remember i saw a pic of a Pakistan Railways’ Electric Locomotive and an electrified track. As far as i know, Pak Railways does NOT have electric trains.
did they ever have it? if not then why have electric locomotives and electrified tracks?
plz enlighten me with what u know. thankoo

there is a part of the network that runs on electricity, thats between khanewal and lahore. The rest of the network is covered by diesel locomotives

Railway Electrification 25 KV AC, Single phase, Electric Traction System was introduced in 1970 over 286 Kms Lahore-Khanewal main line section to modernize the system and also to save foreign exchange, on import off Diesel Locomotives. The anticipated benefits have been fully achieved. However, the system is now in run down condition and rehabilitation.
Pakistan Railways is providing a second line from Khanewal to Raiwind, so as to provide double line all the way from Karachi to Lahore. work in progress of shifting of ET Mast infringing the alignment in connection with doubling of track on Khanewal - Raiwind section. Electrification of the second line and Rehabilitation of existing electrified section also been programmed.
Ministry of Railways now intends to conduct fresh feasibility for Electrification V/S Dieselization for a certain viability of Electrification on Khanewal-Karachi double line section through International/National Consultants under Transport Assistance (TA) loan from ADB. Financial proposals of the International consulting firms have been opened and evaluated, financial proposals have been sent to ADB for approval.

**thanks a lot for the info. i tried to see video clips of Khanpur station on Youtube and a saw a few but i did NOT see any train being hauled by electric locomotive ort any engine even idling on the platforms so i assume that Pak Railways doesn't ustilize electric locomotives...

i think Pak must re-start electrificatrion of its railway tracks. thats so good for the environment and will save bundles in valuable foreign exchange 
why don’t they use it? are they not operational or is it coz of shortage of electrical power?
