Pakistan: Political Landscape

Is it going to be more rough and messy?

Re: Pakistan: Political Landscape

Its very hard to tell, especially with Zardari being stubborn about the judges issue. Once thats out of the way, it'll be easy to predict the coalitions future.

Re: Pakistan: Political Landscape

well and u are not factoring in the mullahs yet, wait till we see videos of mullahs gone wild again.

PPP, PML-N, MQM, ANP etc may be in cahoots now but mullahs by and large stayed put and will get abck to their usual business soon after the current mess clears

Re: Pakistan: Political Landscape

The fear is, the situation may take an uglier turn with Zardari not being able or unwilling to restore the judges. Further, with Westerners opposing Nawaz ascendence to power, sentiments in Punjab may be flared up ultimately ending at some unfortunate event. May be Kiyani will have to take over alienating political forces in Sindh, Baluchistan, etc.

Ghaus Ali Shah has returned after a long time.

Anyhow, these are just very rough speculations.

LoD

coalition will break..unless someone read US , sheepherds these clowns together for stability sake. if it goes kaput, I think Nawaz will run to Ji and JUi, not sure which side ANp will fall, they have had some head butting with MMA in past, I look at PPP on one side with regional players and PML-N with JI and JUI in future.

RebelX, nice comment. ANP most probably will be in a swing position or will be maintaining an ambiguous posture because of the good relations its leaders enjoy with political figures from Punjab. But if PPP+regional political parties alliance strengthened, PML-N, JI, JUI + other right wing forces may form an alliance.

One cannot anything certain about Diesali Mullah though.

Re: Pakistan: Political Landscape

PML(N) to split from the govt.
Ifti Chaudhry will not be re-instated.
Other judges can come back, no one really cares.
Govt will be in a constant state of crisis.
Nothing will get done for the people of Pak.
Zardari and Co will make money (quickly).
PMLs to reunite.
New elections.
PML comes to power.
Musical chairs continue.

Re: Pakistan: Political Landscape

^ If that happens, coalition breaks, the PML[N] should give 4-5 years and a fair chance to the PPP, which I believe can happen because this time the army/ISI wont send the PPP packing like they used to in the past. Its also important for PPP to get their own President to prevent a 58-2b.
