what happened this time around? when he went to India, he used Indian bullet-proof car. why is he transporting his own bullet-proof ar to Kathmandu for the SAARC conference?

is he trying to send a ‘message’ or is he scared to use the car provided by India to the government of Nepal for the conference as it might have listening devices installed?

or, is he copying President Obama who takes his own bullet-proof limo wherever he goes.

Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif rejects India’s bulletproof car at SAARC Summit

Kathmandu: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has rejected the bulletproof cars being provided by India for the next week’s SAARC summit in Kathmandu, saying he would bring his own vehicle.

“We have received information that Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif will bring his own bullet proof car for the Summit,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Khagnath Adhikari.

“As the host country we have made arrangements for vehicles, lodging and food for all the delegates, including the heads of the government and heads of states, for the Summit, and if anybody prefers to bring his own vehicle, we have nothing to say,” Adhikari said.

“We have received information that Pakistani PM Sharif will bring his own bullet proof car for the Summit,” said the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

It is learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sharif are bringing their own vehicles for the summit on November 26 and 27.

“None of the other delegates have informed us about bringing their own vehicle,” he said.

India has provided special bulletproof vehicles for ferrying SAARC leaders during the summit without levying any charges.

Six bulletproof latest model cars for the summit arrived in Kathmandu on Monday.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Summit will see the leaders of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan meet in Kathmandu on November 26 and 27.

The decision by Nawaz Sharif government not to use the bulletproof vehicles being provided by India comes amid tension between the two countries over ceasefire violations along the border and cancellation of Foreign Secretary-level talks.

India-Pakistan tension has always remained a sensitive issue during the past SAARC Summits, overshadowing other regional matters.

I think its wrongly reported.

Nepal is organizing the event and usually transportation and stay is their responsibility, they couldnt procure cars on time so they sought help of Indian company (or govt not clear) for the cars. India rented them cars for a week for a price.

Nawaz Sharif wanted to bring his own car which a lot of nation heads do and he informed that to Nepal authorities. What does he care if its Indian or German car, he just want to bring his own car which is very normal. If anything then he has snubbed Nepal to use their free transportation.

Now since because there was almighty "India" involved hence it became a news.

Though i personally believe he could have used one of a car from his embassy which he did when he was in India. But whatever makes him feel like a king.

All he would have discussed is how much IK has made his life a hell, but then again he is already an Indian agent, why bug him?

No, not really. NS took big risk of going to Modi's inauguration against wishes of his own establishment & thought he could play ball with new Indian govt. He got slapped & now has come to his senses. In any case, reality is that we are enemies & non withstanding what others say, we can never live in peace until one of us is completely defeated of destroyed.

Too negative thinking in my opinion. We have been living together even before civilizations rose in other parts of the world. Last war we fought was in kargil and that too was not initiated by India. Since then our relations have only gotton better.

He did the right thing by coming to Modi's swearing in ceremony and its importance will be known by governments after him.

Regarding firing on the borders, there are two sides of the story. You believe your side, i believe my side. Again if anything, he is slapped by his own third umpire and political opponents for taking that risk.

Rahi baat cars ki, its Nepal who offered him a transportation rented from India. I dont see how you can involve India in to it.

(Reuters) - Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will bring his own car to a regional meeting in Nepal next week, an official said on Tuesday, turning down an offer to borrow a bulletproof limousine lent by Pakistan’s arch rival, India.
Pakistan will transport Sharif’s car hundreds of kilometers to Nepal’s capital in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Leaders from eight nations meet for two days from Nov. 26 for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).Mistrust between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan, the two largest members of SAARC, have overshadowed the forum that was formed in 1985 to help develop the world’s least economically integrated region.
“We have made arrangements for vehicles for all leaders for the summit,” Khaga Nath Adhikari, a spokesman for Nepal’s foreign ministry said. “If anyone wants to bring his or her own car, we have no objection.”
Nepal has two limousines and has rented six bullet-proof cars from India for the visiting leaders.
Shankar Sharma, a former Nepali ambassador to the United States, said the decision showed distrust between India and Pakistan, which have fought three wars since independence from Britain - two of them over the Muslim-majority Kashmir.
“They (Pakistan) may have their own suspicion about using the car brought from India,” Sharma said.Adhikari said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also bring his own car.

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam on Thursday said no car was offered by India to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the upcoming SAARC summit in Nepal, adding “so there was no question of turning down the offer”.

“Prime Minister Nawaz will attend the summit,” Aslam told reporters in Islamabad.

On Nov 17, a Nepalese official had said that Prime Minister Nawaz rejected the use of a bulletproof car provided by India for summit of South Asian leaders in Kathmandu.

Sharif “will be bringing his own car … all other vehicles for [visiting] heads of countries have come from India”, Nepalese foreign ministry spokesman Khaga Nath Adhikari had said.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit will see the leaders of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan meet in Kathmandu on November 26 and 27.

Speaking on Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s visit to the country, the FO spokeswoman termed it as successful.

At the end of his two-day path-breaking visit, Ghani had vowed to open a new chapter in ties with Pakistan.

“We must overcome the past … we will not permit the past to destroy the future,” he had said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
She also emphasised on Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu’s visit to the country, saying that it was extremely important and bilateral cooperation between the two countries were expanding.

“Cooperation between Pakistan and Russia is increasing and ties are on upward trajectory,” Aslam said.

I havent yet seen modi giving a speech from behind the glass. In India usually BP glass is only used on red fort if the threat level is high. In normal speeches they dont do glasses. Modi is the one who actually mingles with people more than his predecessors.
