Pakistan Open Squash

There are so many threads on cricket here but nothing on squash. So I’m starting one. Pakistan used to dominate squash but after Jahangir and Jansher left, Pakistanis started loosing interest in this game. Anyway, right now in Lahore, Pakistan, there is a squash tournment going on and all the top seed players are participating in it.

Pakistan’s Amjad Khan, a wildcard entry this year but champion in 1998, thrilled the partisan crowd on the second day of first round action in the $105,000 Bank Alfalah Pakistan Open Squash Championship at the Fortress Stadium in Lahore when he upset Welshman Alex Gough, the 12th seed, to become the only home player to reach the second round.

But Pakistan’s hope died when Amjad Khan lost to Egyptian qualifier Amr Shabana 15-13, 15-11, 13-15, 15-4 in the second round.
