one thing i feel is tht the reason why we don't feel for our nation and try to improve it is lack of incentive. in north america or europe we have oportunities to better our lives as compared to home. doesnt mean i miss home!! this generation is responsible for its betterment!

I have not lost hope. The article you have referred to does contain some factual truths, but the conclusions drawn are merely a wish rather than soundly drawn inferences based on historic trends or future projections.
If you look at the conditions in which Pakistan was created in 1947, very few people had hopes that this nation will survive even a few years, and here we are after 53 years, much better than before, although alas we lost our one wing, but that is another discussion, as it had lots of complicated issues attached with it.
If we look at the conditions now, yes, there are lots of things which can make us disappointed and disillusioned, but one thing which we must not lose is hope.
I believe that in a very simplified way, Pakistan's problems will be solved by two things:
- Greater literacy
- Good leadership and management
If we get these two, then rest of the problems will sort themselves out eventually. If we rely on predictions of one of our eminent economists and former finance minister, if all Pakistanis pay their taxes just once, i.e. only for one year, then all the debts of our country will be wiped out. If we get Pakistan on sound financial footings, the remaining points about democracy etc are peanuts. In my personal opinion democracy is not the end all, rather it is a means towards an end, and the end should be "good governance". Every country adopts its own model of government to suit its requirements. Due to our extensive exposure to western news media, CNN, BBC etc and also to Zee, DD and other news networks, we have started to place a disproportionate emphasis on democracy, forgetting the fact that democracy alone is not the solution.
The real question is how to bring about this change. Well, for once an ordinary person, should pay due taxes and keep a sharp eye on how the taxes are utilized. This monitoring should be through the media and think tanks. This is just a part of the solution. There are many others...and most certainly, we should not lose hope. Pakistan will be here, Insha Allah, for many many more years, certainly for more than our lifetimes and our future generations lifetimes too.... :)

whtever u have mentioned is correct, 100%! but how to go about making it a reality? education is vital , and the gov situation is and kniving and callous. i just reiterated wht u had previously said. a solution is needed. and i say again it us who are the solution. however, i cant formulate a procedure for our generation :(

both of u have good points and perspectives.but the fact that Pakistan is still on the map doesnt mean that it will be there.and paying taxes issue is intricate enough.i am just concerned cause i love being a Pakistani no matter what anybody might say.i do pray that may the lord give us "Taufeeq"to chose the right path and make the right choices and become strong muslims and a strong nation.i know this thought might be far fetched and i know it might not happen in my life time but at least i can dream about it.
and ya on a different note :i have been following olympics and it made me proud that Pakistan sqaushed Great Britian(8-1)in hockey match.Way to Go Pakis!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Pakistani grew up loving my country and with lot of hope that some day the change will come. We will live with peace and harmony. I still remember how important 14th August was for us how we decorated our house and heared national songs all day that added new spirits in our hearts. Hearing Dil Dil Pakistan and Hum hey Pakistani hum too jeetay gey was so much fun. Watching Pakistan's cricket or hockey team win was absolutely delighteful. Its not I do not love Pakistan any more I can never do that but sometimes I feel the hope is not as much as it was when I was a child. I want Pakistan to be the greatest nation in the world but than what about the ground realities. I am simply too confused do not know what the future holds. I never thought about setteling abroad nor am I thinking about it now but life is becoming tough with every passing day the prices of everything are going up. I do not know how long I can hold on. I am too frustrated. I love Pakistan but when I go to watch a movie and see Pakistanis sitting when national anthum is played it makes me cry. Sorry if I bored you but you have to share your frustrations with someone to live. I shared them with you because you are Pakistani's.
well theres only so much we all can do. i for instance will be establishing a desi restaurant and promote our cuisine in a more cultural way. i love my home and my neighbor(india) oh yes!! all my friends r indians in purdue univ. we arent any different -- i feel. if u think about s.asians r respoonsible for the bewtterment of other nations. and why the incentive is in those nations. no one sets an example or provides incentives at home to keep us here. i may be staying here after grad. if im to promote our culture then ill have to. but will never, ever forget home!!!!! ill always come for visits. my familys there for crying out loud! i pray for the betterment of pak, ind relations. class time.

Thats absolutely critical. Where ever we are, whatever we do ... we must do whatever we can to contribute our share in making our country better and stronger. Believe me, these sentiments are getting weaker and weaker, especially with the late-20's - early-30's generation!
Another critical thing to keep in mind, ofcourse, is that nothing gets done OVERNIGHT... Thats the single biggest misconception and fallacy! We have to constantly work towards the end and not lose hope if instantaneous results are not visible. It takes group work and constant effort to make things happen. Even if we look at the history of Europe and Americas, it took many many years before the effects of Industrial Revolution started bearing fruit.
And ofcourse, 50 years is a very small time in the lives of nations...We are practically in our childhood :)
Pakistan is riddled with problems, and the original question is probably, how do we solve these problems. The basic cure lies in:
Good management
Good management
Good management !!!

1.- All the members of the discussion were either American Jews or indians, with no muslim in the committee.
2.- The report is about the future, and future is a big uncertainity, hence these are all guesses. Since we have a firm belief on our God, our struggle, our freedom, the heck to such committees–>> they can never determine our destiny

3.- The report says that in the first case after India’s failed attack on Pakistani Nuclear sites, Pakistan uses the nukes against Indian Army and in turn USA wipes out the remaining nukes to protect India and stop them from going into wrong hands of muslim fundametalists.–>> WoW, what an approach of the Kafirs. Well for you Kafirs, they are already in the wrong hands. It does not require to be given to Fundamentalists and any sincere Pakistani premiere would use the nukes against India (all of them) instead of giving them to muslim Fundamentalists. Furthermore, even how much holi you play with Clinton, USA can never take the risk of attacking a nuclear state, “What would it say to its taxpayers that it attacked a old allied smaller nation after already being attacked by a bigger nation three continents away”.
4.- As it says, “China retreats its forces”
Kafirs, please do keep on thinking like that forever, only time will tell. China will never backoff its support for Pakistan and we have won wars over you without anyone’s help before also.
5.- Sino-Indian collaboration for supremacy in South Asia is impossible. Well at present, China has Pakistan’s support to have supremacy in South Asia.
6.- Indonasian splitup near 2012 is highly unlikely as proven by its economic condition.
7.- In my point of view, India split up into smaller independant states is more likely possible as per prevailing political crises and independance regimes operating as compared to Pakistan.
8.- India will soon be declared as a terrorist state in the near future, with all dreams as in the report will be a gonner.
9.- The report is a dream of the kafirs and they have been dreaming the same thing last 50 years or so. After every 10-15 years a similar report comes into light but never comes to reality since its just a Hindu/Kafir dream.
10- People of Pakistan should believe in themselves, and should support present Government’s fight against corruption to make economic condition of Pakistan and hence Pakistan more stable.
In the end, I would say, I used to do a job but now it has become my prayer.

In next few years Pakistan will be totally under Taliban influence; Kashmir will be liberated, and again it will be another firm islamic state. Kashmiri Freedom fighter will move ahead towards India to Capture the hindu state. On the other hand Afghan (Taliban) will move towards Iran. All this time china will be in support of Pakistan, to combat threats from india, Isreal and USA. By 2015-2020, Arabian oil wells will be dried. This is going to cause a recession in MidEast economy. Because of that there will be a war between Arab and isreal. All the western country will be with Isreal, and the whole muslim block will be with Arab. China is also going to support the islamic block, to save its socialism. India will be in civil war. Victory will be ours. And Islam will flourish, and its not going to be like the islam in Afganistan; it will be like Islam of Arab.

usman how your openning a restaurant will change Pakistan's state. I am not saying that what you want to do is wrong. But how the economic condition of the country or law and order situation will change if we all go abroad and start working there. Prices of oil have gone up again today with it the prices of electricity and all other essential goods will go up. Where should the common man go. How long can he survive. I fully respect what you want to do and I do not want to loose hope either but for more than 10 years (even when I was 9-10 years old) I have been thinking about all this and it sometimes makes me sick. I am telling you this honestly when I was posting the message last night I had tears in my eyes I simply could not stop them. its not that I am week or hopeless but even for hope you need something. I am yet not hopeless but still do not know a way out.
