PAKISTAN needs you....

**As the deadline to pay ransom for the release of four Pakistani hostages from the captivity of Somali pirates draws near, international organisations have agreed to help raise money, giving families a renewed hope.

Only four days remain in the seven-day deadline given by the pirates, yet the government has failed to take any steps to ensure their recovery so far, reported Express 24/7 on Monday.

Naval Captain Wasi was taken hostage along with three other Pakistanis on August 8, 2010 from an Egyptian cargo ship. The pirates are demanding $2.1 million for their release.

On Saturday, Laila, Captain Wasi’s daughter, announced that she would sell her kidneys to pay the ransom. Responding to this, an Indian living in Dubai, K B Singh, promised to pay $500,000 to help raise the ransom money, the channel reported.

Captain Wasi’s brother, Askari Hassan, said that human rights activist Ansar Burney will go to Dubai to collect the money from Singh.

Hassan said that the pirates would release Captain Wasi if they are paid $600,000 in ransom.

On Monday, Laila again appealed to the government for help for her father’s safe recovery. Captain Wasi’s wife also expressed disappointment with the lack of support from the government, saying that even foreigners have offered help, but the government remains silent.

Speaking to Express 24/7, Burney said the pirates have demanded $2.1 million in ransom.

He said the shipping company which owns the vessel, has agreed to pay $1 million, and a few Indian welfare organisations have collectively pledged $0.5 million.

Earlier this month, 16 Pakistanis and two Iranians were freed from the pirates after the Danish Navy carried out an air-raid operation to rescue the hostages.**

**WTH is this?
Are we not a nation?
Are we not Muslims?
Come on guys we SHOULD help our brothers…
Life is all about helping each other.
They are needy and they deserve our help
I dont want to blame the Govt. We all know what kind of people we have in our parliaments
The point is what we are doing for this matter
Rehman Malik says he is going for operation
Question is 9th May is the last date, So may b he is going to take “actions” on last day. What rubbish!
Look at Americans aik kam zarf and killer Raymond Davis ko rehai dilwane k liye kia kuch nae kia
And if they can why we cannot?
And afsos tb hmare leaders k paas wafir khazana tha!
Situations like these always prove nations existence
If we united as a nation for a match then why not now?
Kia puri qoum k pas 4 lakh dollars nae hain???
Ya Allah ka khouf khatem ho gya hai???
We all hate “bheek” and then why we are throwing these people in such situation.
Believe me agr aap Allah ko razi krne k liyey inki help krein gey, Allah apka ehsan kabhi na kabhi us se behtr tor pe zaroor luta dega aur agr is dunya main nae to Yekeen kijyey Aik Dunya is ki baad ki bhi hai.
No body knows what is going to happen with him next moment. May b u find yourself tomorrow in such situation and tell me Who is going to produce ASBAB for you then?
Off course ALLAH!

Please help these and tell your family, friends to help these Mustahiq people ASAP as much as you can

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

somali pirates have become a nuisance

indian government paid huge sums to release it's prisoners.they have still kept few prisoners and asking for more money.

this is due to shooting down pirate vessels lost month near indian ocean.its needs full scale naval war with somali pirates

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

^
i agree that someone has to take action but the main point is we don't have much time for these four people.
We can plan or do something later.

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

^^

its the job of pakistan government to pay

like indian government did for its people.who knows they may release two persons and ask more for another two.

how will private funding will help in this case. its government job

Re: PAKISTAN needs you…

Afsos tho muje bohat hain… :bummer:

To those who can remember back to the events of 1993 I remember how Pakistani troops in particular the 10th battalion of Balochistan and Malaysians had to rush thier armoured division out to save Americans during operation Divine Serpent made famous in the film “Black Hawk Down”. Strangely the film significantly downplayed the role of Pakistani forces. Anyway looking at it from a Somali point of view you can see why they would be happy to get thier hands on a Pakistani and I seriously fear for the poor victims who have been captured.

Our shameless governments always seem to make the wrong decisions.

Babloos your very right. Private funding is always the last resort but this is not a private matter anymore it is a national matter and therefore should be dealt with by the government.

I can understand the history behind the troubles in the Somilia and how the Somali people now view Pakistani’s as American lapdogs. It’s a shamefull state of affairs but I pray the Somali pirates still have some control over thier minds and the hatred does not lead to innocent blood being spilt.

I cannot bring myself to condemn the actions of Somali pirates if I was a Somali citizen and had been through what most of them have had to endure then I too would probably turn to Piracy. This is a problem that is getting out of hand and Pakistani government should negotiate and even pay the Pirates a sum of money not only to release hostages but to make ammends for past mistakes.

The Pakistani and Somali relationship over time has become stagnant and we should learn diplomacy works in many ways not just the way Imperialist America wants it to work.

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

All I can say here is shame on government of Pakistan as they could do-nothing for their people in the past 9'months

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

What make you think that this Pakistani govt. would do anything ever which can be beneficial for the Pakistani people???

Atmost, Zardari led govt might have asked the Somali govt. if Pirates are ready to pay him 10% of the ransom then he will do something about it.. otherwise the govt. is too busy in killing people by increasing the prices of the utilities at alarming rate... no today they are to busy enjoying the honey-moon with pervaiz elahi...

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

I will pay Insha'Allah, it's the least I can do for a fellow countrymen.
Thanks pktun.
btw when is the deadline to pay?

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

I agree with u all specially faris bhai . 2 facts se sb agree krtey hain
1. Its probably national matter now and should be dealt with by the Govt.
And I think Captain Wasi and their colleagues also agree with u people on this fact
2. Govt ney na kuch pehley kia aur na ab kregi and we all know this
So Akhir hm kb tk Govt ki khoobian byan krtey rahein gey.
Aur is bt ka saboot ye hai k 2 million main se 1.6 million kisi leader ya Govt. official ne nae pay kia.
This is funded by different NGOs.
The main problem is we don't have much time for these innocent people.
So plz guys puts your hands together and help these.

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

yea I agree its the least what we can do
Deadline is 9th of May.
Allah apko khush rakhey aur toufeeq dey.

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

**First of ALL, as much as i sympathize with the hostages and despise the pirates, paying ransom is NOT the right thing...EVER! this way they get emboldened and will do this horrible crime again and again and again.

since, High-seas Piracy by Somalians is NOT just Pakistan's problem, it's the world's problem, they must be dealt with once for all. they are criminals and a nuisance.

if u pay ransom today, they will ask for more tomorrow.

i don't think that 1 minute after the the passing of the deadline, they'll just slaughter the hostages...i'm positive they'll try to negotiate and re-negotiate and try to make this adventure a money making misadventure.

i pray that Allah keeps them safe and destroys those who intend to destroy others injustly! aameen**

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

Yea exactly KKF bhai they r criminals and we all should find solution for this matter.
I also pray k Allah inko safe rakhey but shaid ap sb ney videos nae dekhein jin main unko torture krney ka zikr hai.
Aap aur main yahan batein to kr saktey hain per shaid unki takleef mehsoos nae ker saktey.
Facts is waqt kuch bhi hon, I think is nazuk time main we should help them and then we can go for solutions or actions.

Re: PAKISTAN needs you…

why are somalis resorting to piracy?

you will see european nations like Italy and their shipping companies have dumped nuclear and dangerous waste into the waters near somali killing fish stocks and poisoning the waters.

So the somalis who used to be fishermen cannot fish no more and now have resorted to piracy, this is not right or halal but what should they do no one listened to them when they said our waters are being poisoned!

Re: PAKISTAN needs you....

KARACHI: Somali pirates on Monday released four Pakistanis and 18 other hostages after ransom was paid to them, says Ansar Burney Chairman of Ansar Burney Trust.

Somali pirates had kidnapped a group of 22 crew members, who also included Egyptians, Indians and a Sri Lankan in August last year, on board vessel MV Suez of an Egyptian company and had demanded $2.1 millions for their release.

Ansar Burney, who negotiated with the pirates and raised money through donations, said that all the hostages have been freed and that they would reach home in a few days as arrangements for their repatriation are being made.

The freed Pakistani captain of the ship, Mohammad Wasi told a private television channel on phone that all the hostages have been freed.

He said Somali pirates on at least four occasions threatened all hostages that they would kill them if the required ransom money was not arranged. Pirates had given several deadlines and extended deadlines as they were told money is being arranged.

He said 40 to 50 armed pirates would always guard them and they were given only rice and pulses for the past 11 months.

The freed hostages include four Pakistanis, six Indians, 11 Egyptians and one Sri Lankan, Captain Wasi said. He said most of the freed hostages are sick.

Burney, also former federal minister and prominent civil right activist, said a ship was hired on rent to carry money to the pirates.

He said Pakistani people donated for the release of the Pakistani hostages and people in the respective countries of other hostages also gave donations to pay ransom.
