I’m confused, there are more Indian channels available in the US than there is Pakistani channels in PAKISTAN!
One reason could be that India is a country of a billion people and Pakistan is just 140 million.
But yeah, India opened up its media long time ago, Pak's media was always monopolized by the State, I think that now things are changing and new licenses will be granted.
still, countries like UK with 60 million+ have 1,000 times more channels than India
So population has nothing to do with it
I heard something about ARY GOLD and Prime TV coming to Pakistan.
And Maleeha Lodhi is going to start her own newschannel (i don't have source, that's what i heard)
Well, Prime TV was started in the USA
last year (Aug 14). The channel is very
succesful and following on the heels of
Prime's success, ARY digital is also starting
their channel, some time this month.
As far as the success of indian media is
concerned, lot of credit goes to our very
own Pakistanis. Oh yes, they played a very
good part in this whole thing.
And can you believe it, there are many Pakistanis, who just can't stand Prime TV
in the USA. Saying like, oh it sucks, there's no quility programe. God damn it
man, give the guys a chance. They're testing
the water, as soon as more Pakistani channels
start competition will evantually produce
quality. Not that I think that there is no
quality on Prime TV, heck, there are lots quility shows and dramas that I would sit through the whole day and watch'em over and
over. But it's to only those people who are just never satisfied
with their channels and always prefer to praise the freggin' skin showin' whore
filled neighbouring channels, which has
no quility programmes whatsoever but are expandin due to their sex appeal.

D.A. Zulfi - I think its perfectly HEALTHY, as well as the viewers' RIGHT to criticize. No one is complaining, but criticizing. And we're paying 15 bucks a month for the channel. I could go back to regular cable if I wanted to, and I'd be paying much less. But I've got the channel on, because it is Pakistani.
As for Pakistan needing more TV channels, the entertainment industry of Pakistan is so small that just having PTV, its additional channels, and ARY and Indus - the Pak public is seeing the same faces over and over again on all the channels. I dont think more channels is the key - I think the industry itself needs to be recruiting more people to expand and excel.

We already get two ARYs in Pak... As for Prime in Pakistan, we really dont need it there, since most of the stuff is taken from PTV anywayz...
